How to choose your adult Karate uniform?

Karate is a "striking" combat sport. Unlike in judo, opponents to not grab each other's uniforms (except in self-defence).
For this reason, a karate uniform should be lightweight and loose-fitting in order to give increased freedom of movement.

    WHAT SIZE TO CHOOSE ?

The size of the uniform will depend on the size of the wearer (from 160cm to 220cm).

Traditionally made of cotton, karate uniforms tend to shrink by a few centimetres during the first three washes.

For this reason we recommend choosing a uniform that is 5 to 10 cm bigger than the size of the wearer. For example, if you are 174cm tall, go for a 180cm uniform.

CHOOSING THE UNIFORM ACCORDING TO YOUR LEVEL

Fighters new to karate should choose a uniform that is lightweight and flexible, but also sturdy thanks to its ribbed weave.

A fighter who takes part in kata competition (imaginary combat with no opponent) should opt for a more durable uniform with thicker, crisper material.
