How to choose your junior Taek won do dobok?
Tae kwon do is a "striking" combat sport. Unlike in judo, opponents to not grab each other's uniforms (except in self-defence).
For this reason, a tae kwon do dobok (uniform) should be lightweight and loose-fitting in order to give increased freedom of movement.
WHAT SIZE TO CHOOSE?
The size of dobok will depend on the size of your child (from 110cm to 150cm).
Traditionally made of cotton, taek won do doboks tend to shrink by a few centimetres during the first three washes.
For this reason we recommend choosing a dobok that is 5 to 10 cm bigger than the size of your child. For example, if your child is 133cm tall, go for a 140cm uniform.
CHOOSING THE UNIFORM ACCORDING TO YOUR CHILD'S LEVEL
A child who is new to taek won do should opt for a 100% serge cotton uniform (190sqm), both flexible and lightweight.
