How to choose your handball shoes?
Shoes are a very important part of a handball player's equipment. Your shoes will have an impact on your play and on your physical fitness. Too many people ignore the important of shoes, which can often help protect joints.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SHOE ACCORDING TO YOUR POSITION?
Backcourts often change direction and require solid support. Their shoes should provide good support and cushioning.
Wingmen are real sprinters, needing light, supple shoes more than ankle support. Some even use volleyball shoes, which are even lighter.
Pivots, depending on their shape and style of play, opt either for supple shoes or for shoes with support.
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD SHOE
Handball is a sport that requires repeated jumps and bounding steps on generally quite hard surfaces. Because of this, the cushioning provided by the shoe should be a determining factor. This way, you will protect your knees and other joints used. In addition to this, some shoes are equipped with detachable soles, allowing a sole with extra cushioning to be added, made for example with sorbothane (a material that gives excellent natural cushioning).
Not all ranges of shoes provide the same level of support to the ankles. Players usually know if they have weak ankles. In particular, if they wear ankle supports to play, we will encourage them to consider shoes with more or less support.
Reactivity and sole
The exterior sole is generally non-marking. Thanks to its shape, it allows the player to change direction powerfully and quickly.
