    9. Recommended additional product
Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
    10. Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of a rain shower lasting for two hours).
    11. Waterproof garment
Technology: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
    12. Component breathability
To find out whether a component is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
    13. Garment breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its hiking jackets and overtrousers. These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
    14. Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved through a treatment applied to the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua overtrousers benefit from a water-repellent treatment.

I've worn these while climbing Mount Fuji. Perfect item, all you need is to KNOW what you get. Don't expect a radiator, cause it's not. It will not keep you warm, as it's not intended to. Got some rain in Japan plus few high winds and rain in UK, while fishing. I've never been disappointed by these.
As my review targets the product, I have to mention that on the negative side of it the stitching on my product was wrong. Due to this problem, the product ripped apart. I've exchanged it, no problem at all, and thank you Decathlon for that, but I came back to buy the same product and... its price is now higher. As my product was defective, according to the receipt I got, I would expect to get another pair at the same value...
I am not afraid to purchase it again. As a Quality Control Manager I know that the product is fine, only that my pair was stitched wrong.
I would rise the rating if Decathlon could offer me the same price for it, as the initial price paid.
      Thank you.
      Waterproof indeed

I bought this trouser for my trip to Spiti valley in winters, The trouser was not helpful when it came to protecting from cold, i had two layers underneath still it could not handle the weather at Narkanda. We had to abort the trip and head back. I have bought a lot of stuff from this Brand never been disappointed. Hope this is one off experience.
      partially waterproof.
      Protection from Cold.
      Response of the brand
      Hello Goyal,

Thank you for your feedback on the Forclaz 100 Rain Overtrousers. These pants are waterproof which also makes them windproof, but they do not have any insulation in terms of providing warmth.
If you did feel cold it would have been due to the lack of warmth provided by the two layers below the pants. These ideally should have been a Thermal base layer and probably a fleece pant. The type of thermals and the density of the fleece pant should be in accordance to the temperature you will experience.

Wore these for the first time in poor weather conditions with snow and hail coming horizontally and gusting up to 50mph. A joy to wear the braces being a good idea so you weren't adjusting or pulling them up every five minutes. Extremely breathable and keep all the rain out.
Easy to get on and off, comfortable, great fit.
A bit on the heavy side.
