    Product feature
    1. Footwear waterproofing test.
Tested in the laboratory and in use, NOVADRY®-equipped footwear ensures optimum waterproofing and breathability. First immersed in water under air pressure, the absence of bubbles is then checked on the surface of the boot. Then they are placed, half immersed, on a mechanical arm simulating a step, we then check that the inside of the boot remains perfectly dry.
    2. 3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofness test, we test three levels of impermeability, i.e. 2000 flexes (about 2H00 of walking), 4000 flexes (about 4H00 of walking) and 8000 flexes (about 8H00 of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. The Arpenaz 100 Mid Junior shoe is waterproof for 2000 flexes.
    3. Prolonging waterproofing
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. Using waterproof gaiters or mini gaiters is therefore recommended to keep your feet dry for longer by protecting the top part of your shoes and prevent water from getting in as well as pebbles, sand, etc. Use of a re-waterproofing spray is recommended several times per year. This will help your shoes recover their original water-repellent qualities and combat outer stains.
    4. Buying guide.
Have your child try both shoes on, standing, with socks used for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the shop with them on. Make them use the shoes gradually during the first few hikes to allow them to mould to the feet of your child.
    5. Struggling to choose a size?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above the usual size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to avoid your toes rubbing with the tops of the shoes. Tip: Cut your nails short, and before any descent, check that the laces are done up to prevent the foot from sliding towards the front of the boot.
    6. Field tests
All our shoes are tested in comfort and in use, by users representative of those for whom the products are designed, under conditions identical to those that you can find in use. Moreover, our "Missions Tests" put the product manager in contact with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and validate the products.
    7. Laboratory Tests
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: Tearing of the eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated aging.

    • Good budget option - Not 100% waterproof

      Danielle (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
These are a very good budget option. Purchased for my child who was walking Snowdon. The boots stood up well to the condition and whilst not 100% waterproof, these did the job perfectly. My son reported that they were comfortable (despite not being worn in ahead of the day). Perhaps not the most attractive option but extremely good value.
Comfortable despite not being "worn in" in advance
      A little cheap looking
    • Excellent quality.

These are excellent quality boots, good fit, nice and light, waterproof and comfortable, my kids live in their boots. Couldn't be happier with them.
