    Product feature
    1. Footwear waterproofing test.
Tested both in the lab and real-world usage, NOVADRY®-equipped footwear guarantees optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
    2. Laboratory tests.
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, accelerated ageing.
    3. Field tests.
All our shoes undergo use and comfort tests carried out by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.
    4. 3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
    5. Shoe waterproofing level.
The Forclaz 500 Men's boots are waterproof for 4000 flexes.
    6. BUYING TIPS
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.

Have been using it for a year now. Good for 1 day hikes. Would have given a higher rating but they are not waterproof as they claim to be.

    • Too heavy and hurt my uncle

When I tried these shoes on the shop they felt very comfortable. I used them to commute every day for about 3 weeks before I started the hiking.
Unfortunately after my first day of hiking both shoes felt too tight and I could not lace them up any more as it was too uncomfortable. The left shoe was worse as it hurt my big toe nail (it got bruised) and my ankle got swollen.
The hike was only 5 days and I did about 5 hours each day.

      Response of the brand
Hi, Sorry to hear about your experience with the Forclaz 100 hiking boot, I hope you still enjoyed your hike. Please drop back in store as I am sure we can find a more suitable boot for you. From personal experience, on mid to long distance multi-day hikes feet can swell by an extra size causing discomfort should the boot be slightly too small. It took me a while before I could determine whether this was the case or not however I now always go a half size larger for such expeditions. I hope this helps and thanks for your feedback, Chris.

    • Did not like it much

Used for 1 week or less
I wore these shoes for a trek in Canyon valley,Lonavala but I wasn't satisfied with the grip that I got on dry as well as wet surfaces. The wet surface grip was so bad that I had to hold someone constantly and move, giving me less confidence in my shoes during the entire trek. Also I found the toe part of the shoe quiet broad due to which it was difficult to fit into small grooves/areas while climbing up. I found the base of the shoe too hard and less flexible. Instead I found my old sports shoes which have a softer sole to be giving a better grip and also of lesser weight which makes me more comfortable. So overall I am dissattisfied with the product

    • Defective cushioning on the inside

After using the shoe for approx. 4 hour trek, I had sore and scratched / bruised ankles. Wouldn't recommend this shoe highly. On comparison, I found that the same shoe for men's had much better cushioning.
      Decent grip on snow
Cushioning above the ankles is defective
