    • Cloudy at first, Venturing towards Sunny...

I Purchased my T500 on the 07/07, Found that the front mech was catching the chain when using ratio 7-8. When giving ( Gillian Anderson, Her name ) her, her first clean I also found that the front mech cable was frayed slightly between the hex bolt, washer torque point. Changed the seat, had too.... I nearly became a man of two halves, I now bond with an Oval Concepts, Didn't take very long for my rear wheel to become buckled, ( Edinburgh & Midlothian Roads are in Quite a state of disrepair, I assume that every pothole has a budget of 5p, Probably nationwide, Too many cars too many people hence the road degradation. ) More wobble than a Rowntrees Jelly.

Took my bike in to the local store, ( Hermiston Gate, Edinburgh ) spoke with Juanma highlighted the problem's, Front mech fixed, new front mech cable attached, rear wheel balanced, and currently awaiting a Bottom bracket transfer, whilst writing this review.

Great outstanding service from Juanma, He shows genuine interest towards the customers needs....
    • Nice frame and configuration, gear mechs rubbish

Will be returning mine for a refund as I have flund the gear mechs to be exceptionally clunky and a bit hit and miss in selection. The bike has been back to store to be checked once already and had the missing components put on, but still not happy. Real shame really as otherwise the bike has a supurb configuarion for the money.
      Response of the brand
      Hello Damien,

Sorry to hear about the gear issues you have faced with the Triban 500SE, as you have said, the bike is well made and has had some excellent reviews. Compared to other groupsets the shifter can feel clunky in the way it feels when shifting. Unfortunately at this price point it would be very difficult to fit a smoother feeling shifter.

As with our policy if you are not happy with the product then feel free to return for an exchange or refund with your receipt or Decathlon Card.

    • An Excellent Bike

Having looked at various road bikes that would have stretched my limited budget I was delighted to find the Triban 500 SE at such an affordable price.
The bike is well constructed and looks like an expensive counterpart. Although the component parts are not high end (Shimano etc.) they do not dampen the ride experience and work just as you would expect them too.
The bike handles like a dream, has improved my daily commute and I would not hesitate to recommend this bike to anyone looking at getting into cycling.
The paintwork had a minor scratch upon unwrapping.
    • Triban 500SE 1000 mile review

Ok so most reviews you see for all bikes tend to be when they are first bought which is ok for feedback on service etc. but I thought I'd wait till I'd put a good amount of miles on the bike to give a good insight to potential buyers. 1000 miles. Firstly the only mods i have made are shorter stem, carbon seatpost and spd pedals. In the 1000 miles i have done i have had no mechanical issues whatsoever. I clean and lube the bike after every ride which i do with all my bikes. This really is a great bit of kit. Yes it's slighty on the heavy side at just over 10kgs but it's £300. The microshift gears are great. I actually nthink they're functionality is better than shimano. They defiantly don't shift as smooth as shimano but againat this price range they are great. I've had no issues with the Huchinson tyres either although i will change them for conti gp 4s for the winter. The wheels have stayed true. Another thing i did add was double bar tape for personal preference. I just did a 75 mile sportive and it didn't miss a beat. This bike handles better than most at twice the price easily. Btwin really have put a great package together with this. Highly recommended.
