Product feature
  1. Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been shower-tested using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test replicates the average conditions of a rain shower. This jacket's fabric is water repellent: this is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it.This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. A fabric becomes water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. What's more, all the seams are taped.
  2. How to maintain the waterproofness of your jacket long-term
In order to retain the item’s sustained, long-term waterproof properties, the water repellency of the fabric will need to be reactivated: we recommend every 3 washes, or after a dozen uses in the rain. When washing, abundant rinsing is essential, then reactivating the water repellent properties can easily be done in hot water: or with your tumble dryer or hair dryer for example, for a short time. You will find all our tips in the maintenance manual of this product sheet.
  3. Additional recommended products
Raincut over-trousers to also protect the lower body and in this way you’ll have a very effective complete outfit to protect against wind and showers.
  4. Hi-tech lining
Mesh body lining to enhance the garment's breathability this lining also makes it much more pleasant in contact with the skin.
  5. Waterproof rating expressed in mm or Schmerber
We test a fabric's resistance to water pressure by measuring the height of a column of water supported by the fabric in mm (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The better the fabric resists pressure, the more waterproof it is. A component with a 2000 mm waterproof rating can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm column of water
  6. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
  7. A score for comparing the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify the most environmentally-friendly products by comparing them with other products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is a keen supporter of this eco-labelling system. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

  9. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
  10. Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.

This jacket is good, I got caught it a ridiculous downpour while camping and my top half stayed super dry. My only complaint is that the pockets don't have zips and there is no inside pocket.
