    • Door does not shut without great difficulty.

Used for 7 to 12 months
We got this tent last year and only used it twice and found the doors very tricky to get closed, we thought this may be our lack of experience but went away last weekend with seasoned campers who also could not figure out how to correct this. I feel like the tent zip is going to pull apart and my husband has to open and close the door for me if I need to get out which isn’t ideal at all. This is our 3rd Quechua tent, the first two being smaller pop up ones that were fantastic. Very dissapointed with the quality of this tent though which is such a shame. I couldn’t go away without a strong person to help.
      Response of the brand
      Good afternoon,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the zip on the Arpenaz 5.2. If you take the tent into your local store, along with your receipt / Decathlon card with the purchase, they can have a look into it for you and provide a solution.

    • Great family tent, even at -2 degrees!

      26/02/2018
      Ian (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Purchased in February in advance of summer camping trips. Kids wanted to try it out straight away so we did. Fast forward a few hours and we are pitching a large tent we have never seen before in almost total darkness in the pouring Scottish rain! Even in those conditions 1 adult and 2 young children (8&10) were able to erect the tent, with all the internal sleeping areas etc in around 40 minutes and get inside. Colour coded poles helped a lot in this along with the instructions (handily printed on waterproof fabric on the inside of the carry bag). Plenty of room to fit 1 adult and 2 children in one part of the sleeping pod. We could easily have fitted 4 in there and the same in the other. They are very spacious. Middle of the night the temp dropped to -2 degrees Celsius and with all the rain on the ground and soaking the tent earlier it froze and wrapped the tent like an igloo. Then a little later the snow came along with the heavy wind. I was worrying that the tent would collapse under the weight of the snow with myself and the kids inside but needn't have worried. I tapped the "roof" a few times to dislodge the ice and the snow fell away with it. The tarp which fixes into the living area managed to stop most of the wind coming in at the bottom of the tent and with the new sleeping bags we had also purchased from Decathlon (only rated to +10 degrees) we survived the night.

A few days later back at home I brought the tent out to dry and this time in daylight and knowing how it all goes together had it erected in less than 15 minutes (after watching the video here I wish I had watched before the camping trip!). Main thing is to make sure the guy ropes are tight, at 45 degrees and firmly footed in the ground. Very robust against the wind (and snow) when you do this.

Really like this tent and I think it is very good value for the price considering the spacious sleeping pods and the fact that it did not leak even after being soaked for hours then frozen and then thawed out again. Again, as long as you keep the guy ropes tight which keep the surface of the material taught then it will resit wind and rain no problem.

The only reason I did not rate it 5 stars is for the lack of a fully integrated groundsheet - I just can't imagine any situation when you wouldn't need one and I really think it should be included. Pitching a tent on a wet surface when you have no other option (which is 60-70% of the time in Britain) would make this essential to my mind. Even if one the right size and shape was made as an accessory it would be something at least. Too many tents at the same price and cheaper have this so I was very disappointed this one did not -
especially when only discovering this in the pitch black in the middle of a downpour. I think Decathlon should consider the local markets they are selling in when stocking these products and use some common sense as to what products are more likely to be used within the same country.
    • Good in general but doors very tricky to close

Great tent for family but the doors can be very tight to close and zip breaks unless closed v carefully.
      Response of the brand
Hello Alex, Thank you for your review of the Arpenaz 5.2 Family camping tent. We are pleased to hear that you have found this a "Great"  tent for the family, sorry to hear about the problems with the zips. When the tent is next up, I would recommend trying to loosen the flysheet slightly. This should help with the problems with the zip and not interfere with the tents ability to keep it's structure. Please bear in mind that you have a two year warranty on all Quechua products should the problem persist.
      Thanks
