How to choose your Junior Karate uniform?
WHAT SIZE TO CHOOSE?
The size of uniform will depend on the size of your child (from 110cm to 150cm).
Traditionally made of cotton, karate uniforms tend to shrink by a few centimetres during the first three washes.
For this reason we recommend choosing a uniform that is 5 to 10 cm bigger than the size of your child. For example, if your child is 133cm tall, go for a 140cm uniform.
CHOOSING THE UNIFORM ACCORDING TO YOUR CHILD'S LEVEL
A child who is new to karate should opt for a 100% serge cotton uniform (190sqm), both flexible and lightweight.
A yellow- or orange-belt fighter with two years' experience and starting out competitively should use a uniform made of ribbed fabric. A polyester/cotton mix (240sqm) will give good shrink resistance over repeated washes, as well as being quick-drying.
CARING FOR YOUR UNIFORM
Use cold water for the first three washes and water no warmer than 40°C for all washes thereafter. Do not tumble dry.
