How to choose your adult Taek won do dobok?
Taek won do is a "striking" combat sport. Unlike in judo, opponents to not grab each other's uniforms (except in self-defence).
For this reason, a taek won do dobok should be lightweight and loose-fitting in order to give increased freedom of movement.
WHAT SIZE TO CHOOSE?
The size of the dobok will depend on the size of the wearer (from 160cm to 220cm).
Traditionally made of cotton, taek won do doboks tend to shrink by a few centimetres during the first three washes.
For this reason we recommend choosing a dobok that is 5 to 10 cm bigger than the size of the wearer. For example, if you are 174cm tall, go for a 180cm uniform.
CHOOSING THE UNIFORM ACCORDING TO YOUR LEVEL
Fighters new to taekwondo should choose a uniform that is lightweight and flexible, but also sturdy thanks to its ribbed weave.
A fighter who takes part in competition should opt for ribbed cotton/polyester dobok.
