TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Learning to swim encourages the psycho-motor development of young kids.

Nabaiji offers 3 Learning to Swim experiences: Discovering water, Discovering swimming and Discovering underwater. Suitable products are available for each experience.

The adaptable armband is part of the "Discovering water" experience.

Its modular design helps support kids through the Discovering water process with a buoyancy level that reduces as they progress and helps them discover different positions in the water.

Why use adaptable armbands?

Because it is often difficult to find the right buoyancy aid for a kid, to anticipate their level of comfort and confidence in the water, Nabaiji has designed Tiswim. Thanks to its modular design, this adaptable armband-waistband allows the kid to discover the joys of playing in the water, moving and learning the first swimming movements in complete safety.

What are the three ways of using the Tiswim?

Step 1/ Initially, the Tiswim is used with all the parts (armbands + belt in front)
Step 2/ Armbands only, to start moving in the water in a vertical position
Step 3/ Belt only positioned at the back to discover the swimmer's position (horizontal) and the first movements of swimming.

How does the valve work?

the TISWIM armbands-belt have PVC one-way inflation valves.
To inflate the product correctly, press the base of the valve to open it.
The valve closes mechanically in about two seconds. As such, it is normal for a bit of air to escape after inflation. This is why you must close the cap quickly.

How can I adjust the belt in the front position?

Place the front section on the upper part of the belly, so that the belt wraps around the lower part of the kid's chest. Tighten normally, then inflate the front section directly on the kid, without over-inflating it. The belt will then be perfectly suited to your kid's size.

How to avoid the risk of rash / irritation due to friction with buoyancy aids

The skin of young kids is very fragile. Depending on your kid's activity level and duration of sessions in the water, personal buoyancy aids can cause chafing. To prevent this discomfort, we recommend wearing a top underneath the Tiswim adaptable armbands.

Where should I position the belt in the front position?

Simply at the top of the stomach. Be careful not to position the belt on your kid's chest, this would make it too high and poorly held in place. Place it in a low position so that the buoyant part is pressed against the lower part of their chest.

How much should I inflate the different parts of the Tiswim?

The different learning stages have slightly different inflation requirements.
The armbands are always inflated to the maximum. However, ideally you should inflate the second chamber directly on your kid's arm.
The inflation of the belt in the front position should be adjusted to the size of your kid.
The belt in the back position should be inflated normally, without over-inflating, before being put in position.

How can I adjust the inflation of the front section to my kid?

As each person is different, it is possible to adjust the inflation of the front section of the Tiswim to suit your kid's body shape.
First, tighten the belt directly on your kid without having inflated the front section, so that it is perfectly adjusted to your kid's size. Then inflate the front section while your kid is wearing the belt.

Why does the front section rise to my kid's chin when I use the full product?

In most cases this is because the front section is too inflated or the belt is poorly positioned.
Be sure to properly position the belt on the upper abdomen of the kid and adjust the inflation and tightening of the ventral part to their size to ensure that the product does not rise too high on the chest once your kid is in the 'water.
If the product rises too high, it may cause friction under the chin which can irritate the skin of your kid

Why does my kid end up on their back?

If your kid tips backwards it is because the volume of the front section is not suited to their size.
It is important to remember that in order to use the adaptable armbands, your kid's motor skills and muscle tone must be sufficiently developed so that they can keep their balance and their head straight when out of the water.
However, if your kid still tips backwards, do not hesitate to adjust the inflation of the front section to their size so that they can regain their balance.

Can my kid fall forward?

No, if the armbands are properly fitted, your kid will not be able to fall forward.
It is important to remember that in order to use the adaptable armbands, your kid's motor skills and muscle tone must be sufficiently developed so that they can keep their balance and their head straight when out of the water.
However, if your kid moves around a lot and is on the smaller side, adjust the inflation of the front section so that they are a little more submerged at chest level.

How can I adjust the belt in the back position?

In the third stage, your kid can discover the horizontal position in the water with the belt on their back. To do this, fully inflate the back section, without over-inflating it, then position the belt around your kid's waist and tighten normally. Be sure to position the protective tabs under the straps to make them more comfortable.

Can my kid jump in the water wearing the Tiswim?

Yes, but be careful! If the set is properly fitted, your kid can jump in the water without it rubbing under their chin or arms. But beware of the height; since the armbands are a buoyancy aid, do not try to jump from a height higher than that of the kid. If the entire product is worn and your kid is jumping into the water without a care, try removing the front section to give them more freedom of movement.

Can my kid wear the Tiswim adaptable armbands if they weigh less than 15 kg?

No, Tiswim adaptable armbands are designed for kids between 15 and 30 kg for safety reasons. Below this, the armbands would be too bulky to allow the kid to move comfortably. They would no longer be able to control their movements and as a result could easily tip backwards or forwards without being able to get back up easily. Respect the indicated weight limit.

What if the product deflates when I inflate?

There could be a valve malfunction. The valve is not closing properly and too much air is escaping before the cap is closed. To replace it correctly, pinch the valve 2 or 3 times with your fingers, then inflate the product to the maximum and close the cap. The flap should reposition itself correctly.

Recommended use to avoid premature discolouration

After use, rinse your product and do not leave it in direct sunlight.

These are a great alternative to boring orange armband's, with the added flexibility of being able to seperate to allow different skills to be practiced.
Not material is good too, not shiny plastic so more comfortable, but still quick drying.

Purchased this device for my daughter of 10 months. The device causes her to flip back in the water rather than stay upright.

Another way it could be because your daughter's weight is too light to hold the weight of the wristband as there is a certain weight limit for the kid. As this holds the weight of 15-30kg weight.
