Not stylish but perfectly functional, comfortable and seem to be wearing well.
I bought these as pair of cheap travel shoes to take to Central America last summer. The plan had been to wreck them out there and simply throw them away before coming home. 9 months on and these shoes are still going strong.
I have put them through jungle treks in Belize and Guatemala, my daily commute to work on a bike, weekend mountain biking and the occasional weekend run.
I've not really tested these on big hill climbs, so not sure how they'd feel after several hours of uphill/downhill walking.
There are certainly far better shoes out on the market. I'm used to wearing walking shoes/boots with Vibram soles and these don't grip anywhere near as well... but for £10...I doubt there's much out there better than this.
I'll be buying a second pair when these finally give up on me. Great value for £10.
We purchased a pair of these shoes from decathlon in France last year. My husband wore them so much they wore out so I have just purchased another pair for him. Excellent value for money, can't go wrong!
Wore these for a full week (commuting to work and back - 6Km a day on flat ground). At first they were great. After the first 4 days they started to rub on the back of my foot to the point where it made me bleed. I left it for a week to heal then wore these shoes again thinking it was a case of needing to 'wear them in'. Wore them again this week and got into work today (Thursday) and same problem. I have little feeling in my right leg due to a slipped disc pressing on a nerve which has left part of my right leg numb so I didn't really feel the shoes rubbing but I noticed it when I changed into my trainers at work that my sock was wet with blood. Sadly no good for me and will have to put them in the bin - No one will buy or refund a shoe with blood on them.
I'm sorry to hear about your inconvenience with the Quechua Arpenaz 50 Walking Shoes.

now have 2 pairs good value very comfortable
Second time I have purchased this product. Never re-purchased shoes before so they must be okay! Lasted well, good price. Not waterproof or suitable for scaling Everest but okay for walking around or driving in.
comfy straight away, fit is right, look good
They are not black ,they are a very darkish grey.
you can't beat these in value. for everyday use or a bit of hike (not too serious) and even for cycling.
good grip, nice looks, excellent value
Amazing grip levels on rocks compared to none hiking shoes.
Its made walking my local mountain so much easier as I know they will grip on the rock rather than slide - in the dry that is. Not in snow, ice or rain obviously.
The solid base means I can land on a jagged stone and not fear for my foot to be in pain but really the grip on rocks was mind blowing. Never left a review after buying a product but these shoes have been a game changer for me. While path's on my local mountain were treacherous to traverse and marked for experience hikers only, these shoes turned those routes into omg I am going to slide of this rock and hurt my self to - I can just walk across this section because the shoes rubber mechanically grips the rock so well.
The only slips I have had was on icy rock, I image wet rocks will still be slippy, but compared to a regular shoe these would still be better
I don't hike often, but even if your doing just 1 hike, these would be worth buying. A very useful shoe to have in your collection
Fir is 'true to size' and the same as a Clarks shoe- wide toe box. These shoes are well made, good looking in black and ridiculously cheap for what they are (even cheaper in France). The sole grips very well on dry rocky paths in S France. Don't look too 'trainery' so can wear as casual shoes on holiday. I was running in these- size 43 weighs <380gms on digital kitchen scales.
Extremely comfortable, look good, cheap
