I have used this backpack for 10+ half marathons, 3 marathons and 3 ultra-marathons as well as all of the training runs over 10 miles.
While I haven't needed the full size of it for most of the runs, the countless runs I've done has made me realise what a great running vest this is.
Comfortable and fully adjustable, it's perfect. It's light, waterproof and looks good. The many pockets and fluid areas allow it to carry more than it's competitors.
I've never needed a drop bag as it carries every thing I need, waterproofs, gels, food and drinks. I used it with the soft flasks as well and it's been superb. Through typical Scottish weather it's stood out as a champion vest.
Would recommend.
Absolutely Loved this bag, you can everything in there and doesn't move.
I went for the XL online after trying the large in the shop. Glad I did. I’m 14stone, 42-44inch chest and it fits perfectly. Able to snug it down so it barely moves. Very little padding in the back so pack carefully if you’re not using the bladder on shorter runs. The front pockets will just about take a 500ml bottle so would suggest you go for soft bottles.
Great quality/price
Has replaced my normal hiking rucksack. I have taken it out for a 48km run round the Cairngorms and for a good few whole day hikes. With ultralight kit it can easily hold poles, warm layers, waterproofs, glove/hat/buff/arm warmers and spare headtorch and batteries. The water storage options are crazy and so many options for food storage. I ran the whole route without needing to take the bag off once. It weighs half of what my rucksack did and I find it great that even without the ultra running style straws I can still drink from the 500ml pouches in the chest straps without removing them. Meant I could have energy/electrolyte in the reservoir on my back and then refill the 500ml ones at streams when needed. Have since had a friend purchase one for mountain biking/running after my recommendation. I think if you combined this with a waist belt for your food, you could carry the most minimalist summer lightweight sleeping bag, foam mat and bivvy bag in the pack and do multi day trips with it.
The pack fits me perfect, I got xs, am 5ft 4 and medium build, the chest straps can be moved, you can use 1 to 3, easy to get a comfy fit, it has a handy stow area at the back, the main compartment is large enough and it has little pockets everywhere for snacks, the bladder it easy to fill and access.
Bought this for a kit check and it more than delivers on storage, remains lightweight and comfortable. Good value for money.
Before reading on, this is a first impression, based on a number of other manufactures packs I've used in the past.
General quality is pretty good, though not exceptional, but excellent for less then half the cost of of a similar Salomon or Inov -8. I fully expect it to last. The design is one of the best I've owned. Most packs have at least one area that just isn't great, maybe small pockets, small hydration bladder compartment, not enough volume and so on, but this pack actually seems to have no major design flaws. Clearly a lot of thought has gone in to it. If you want a large running pack, or even a small hiking pack, can't fault it and at 15L pretty light too.
One small comment on design though..................
The thin "v" shaped line of stitching on the rear pocket that goes across one zip to separate the outer large pocket seems pretty pointless and flimsy, just asking to wear in my opinion. I unpicked all of it, and now have one large rear pocket, which seems far more robust and actually seems to make practically no difference to the functionality.
My old race vest was showing signs of wear, friends have the 10l version of race vest from Decathlon, but I wanted a little more space for ultra events. I saw this 15l version and gave it a go. From first use it was very comfortable, straps easy to adjust for a snug fitting which I like. The rear compartment and pockets are especially good, plenty of room and options, with option to tighten the pack to avoid bounce.
The front pockets are good, but are ideally suited to Decathlon's own 500ml soft flasks, which I don't like. Personal choice, but I prefer 500ml bottle which does fit in the pocket, but does stretch the bottom of the pocket maybe more than I'd like. Time will tell if that tears.
I recently used it on 25 mile, 4,500ft ascent event and was very pleased with its performance.
I would recommend this product.
Amazing! Ive tried them all, Salomon Inov 8 and Ultimate direction. This is less than half the price and twice as good!
