    Product feature
    1. CrossContact sole
The design of the sole is the product of extensive research in our laboratories, combined with a special rubber formula to optimise grip and traction. Given the range of different needs, we are always seeking the best compromise for walking on both wet and dry terrain.
    2. Fresh Concept
A specific boot design combining a highly breathable upper and a sole construction that eliminates moisture. Laboratory-approved design that has been fully tried and tested by testers and users so that your feet stay dry on summer hikes
    3. Field tests
The comfort of all our shoes is tested when trying them on and in use by typical users under the real-life conditions you will encounter in use. Our Mission Tests bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
    4. Laboratory testing
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to pass the following: tear resistance of the eyelets and straps, resistance of adhesives, toxicology, UV resistance, resistance to abrasion of the outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
    5. What shoe size should you choose?
On account of its extremely thin and breathable components, the sizing of the Forclaz 500 is big. You may need to take one size down.
    6. Buying tips
Try on both shoes, while standing, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going downhill. There should be no pressure points when you try them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your shoes over the course of a few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

    • Flimsy/Poor Design

      Craig (United Kingdom)
Used for 3 to 6 months
Good delivery. Correct size. Simply did not fell comfortable and the heel always slipped. The size was perfect, but even though other, older Quechua shoes were perfect, this new design is a fail for me. After bearing with them for a couple of weeks and a collective time use of less than 5 days, I dropped them off in a charity bin - maybe someone else can make better use of them.
    • Hot shoes!

      Vid (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought these shoes as I used similar merel shoes for a couple of years now, but these looked more durable on the outside.
After using them a couple of times I realised these are way hotter, even when its 20degC and sunny. I expected them to be very airy, because of the mesh construction, but it seems that all the plastic used just does not dissipate heat well...
I like how they look like though and they do fit my foot quite well.
Another problem is the tongue gets easily crinkled, so I need to take care when I put them on so they do not hurt.
I would recommend buying the Merrell Maipo over these shoes for comfort, but the Quechua might be more durable as they don't have as many laces on the outside of the shoe, which can get torn.
    • Once Worn in, Great Shoes!

      MOSHE (United Kingdom)
Used for 7 to 12 months
Took a while to wear them in from new - I almost gave up on them... But once worn in they have become my shoes of choice for hikes, cycling and even as casual shoes as I find them quite attractive in an understated way. I added "glow" lime stretch laces purchased cheaply from that well-known sports goods store.
