I could have got the Forclaz 500 stretch trousers for hiking, and saved 20 quid. However I was drawn to these for some reason. So glad I did though.
Pockets are well situated for GPS, wrappers off my snack bars etc. while not letting things dig into my legs - probably the stretch helps, they are VERY stretchy.
They are a slim fit, and to me this makes them warmer - no draughts - plus less mud working its way up from the ankles as they rub less on each others legs.
I tighten the ankle cord, and clip the bottom hook tight down my laces and as mentioned re mud, quite often it obviates the need for gaiters - unless it's very muddy and wet.
Quite windproof, not often I've put on long johns as it gets colder. They take a while to wet out in the rain, dry very quick and are comfortable even when wet - so I resist over trousers for longer than I normally would. I'm in my 50's and walked for a loooong time. These are the best walking trousers I've ever had.
