Product feature
  1. Why windproof?
When cycling, your speed greatly increases the sensation of cold. An outdoor temperature of 10°C will feel like 7°C when cycling at 25 km/h. A windproof barrier helps prevent air from entering the garment and thus reduces the loss of heat.
  2. Product tests
Our team of product designers is based at the B'Twin Village in Lille (France). All year round, we conceive and develop new products that are easy to use, look great, and have the technical features needed for your cycling experiences. They are then mercilessly put to the test by users in the field, as we are convinced that only by subjecting our products to real world conditions, such as the ones you will experience on your bike, can we continuously improve them.
  3. Care tips
Machine wash at 30°C. Synthetic programme. Turn the garment inside out. Use minimal laundry detergent. Do not add softener. Line dry in a warm, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean. Do not bleach. Do not place on a heater to dry.
  4. Breathability
To determine whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance (test based on standard ISO 11092). The lower its resistance, the more the fabric will let water vapour produced by the body escape, and therefore the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric.
  5. Water repellency
Waterproofing is a fabric's ability to prevent rain water from passing through. A fabric's water repellency is its ability to make water bead and/or run along its surface. The garment soaks up little or no moisture, dries more quickly, and doesn't become heavier. Water repellency can also make it more difficult for its outer surface to become dirty. Water repellency is obtained by applying a treatment to the fabric's external surface.
  6. A rating to compare products' environmental impact.
A product's environmental impact is calculated for its entire life cycle using various indicators. Products are then given an ABCDE rating to help you easily identify products having the best environmental performance (lowest impact) by comparing different products of the same type (T-shirts, bottoms, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon voluntarily chooses to display the environmental ratings of its products. • Lightweight but slightly large around my shoulders

    Andy (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
It is lightweight, 76g for a medium and rolls up into a built in pocket. This packs up small and into a tennis ball size which takes up half a jersey pocket, leaving enough space for some arm warmers and the remaining jersey pockets for other items.

For the price, weight and packability, at the time of writing (2018!) this is worth a punt at £15!

The only downside is fit on my right shoulder, for some reason it flaps at high speed. But that may just be my awkward body!
  • Can’t be beaten on price

    PETER (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Excellent for the price Easy to carry when not in use.
  • Really effective

    neil (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 1 year
Very light, packable and effective at keeping the wind out on the chillier days and the fit is good (not excessively 'race-fit'). It can be a bit noisy when travelling at speed, but that's a small price to pay for the comfort offered.
  • Excellent value

    Mark (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Bought this as a light weight wind stopper. As such it's proved to be excellent for the money. Packs away into its own pocket easily small enough to fit in a jersey pocket. Takes the edge off the wind chill when commuting or descending and provides good visibility. I'm 6'3" and 100Kg, the XL is a good fit can get on top of a base layer and jersey without restriction or being baggy.
  • Highly packable lightweight gilet.

For the price this is an excellent value lightweight gilet. Windproof and very packable.
