Care products: spray or liquid water-repellent treatment in the washing machine. To restore the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
  8. Component waterproofing
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2,000 mm means the fabric can withstand pressure exerted by 2,000 mm of water (the equivalent of a rain shower lasting for two hours).
  9. Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been shower-tested using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
  10. Component breathability
To find out if a fabric is breathable, measure its evaporative resistance RET (test based on ISO 11092). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
  11. Water repellent property of the component
A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to repel water, allowing it to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from absorbing water and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. A fabric is made water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every 3 washes).. All Quechua waterproof ponchos and capes have received a water repellent treatment.
  12. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall rating from A to E is provided to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers and backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. For more info:

Not as good as a previous cape of 4years ago would prefer alight green colour and a peak on the hood with cuffs fitted with is easy to carry folded.
  • Ideal waterproof for an outdoor photographer

    je (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I purchased this product as I had one before but lost it on a photographic foray. This item covers me and equipment in virtually any weather. I can use it as a portable hide and a ground sheet. The only downside is it could be longer as it only comes to the top of me wellies. I used to have a waxed riding coat which covered right down to the ankles of my boots. Maybe in the future this product could be longer in length.
