Product feature
  1. How is backpack volume measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. We then empty the balls into a graduated container to measure the equivalent volume in litres to within a few ml. The empty weight displayed corresponds to that of our standard sample. There may be slight variations.
  2. The Easyfit system
This patented system lets you adjust your bag when you're wearing it, using just a single movement, so that it better fits your body shape: for maximum comfort.
  3. How do you pack a backpack?
Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavier equipment (tent, camp stove, food) closest to your back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet can be placed under the flap; the tent goes under the backpack if it doesn't fit inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. In the pockets, distribute the smaller items that you use during the day (sun cream, map, sunglasses, etc.). Hydration packs should be placed in the compartment provided along the back.
  4. How do you adjust your Forclaz EasyFit backpack?
FIRST, LOOSEN all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load tension straps). PUT THE BACKPACK ON. PLACE THE BELT AROUND THE HIPS (it should cover your pelvic bones) and TIGHTEN. Then PULL THE EasyFit TOGGLES; the strap block goes round your shoulders. Finally, ADJUST THE LOAD TENSION STRAPS to suit.
  5. Tests on the efficiency of the Easyfit system carried out by our Research and Development teams
A user-friendly system: Easyfit backpack is 2-3 times quicker to adjust; and number of readjustments = 0 for Easyfit bag. No difference in the quality of adjustment when compared to a bag with standard adjustment system: EasyFit was rated significantly more comfortable in the Friedman statistical test (4%); with six times as many backpacks correctly adjusted.
  6. 10-year warranty, conditions
The warranty covers any defects/faults with the backpack, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. This special 10-year warranty is only valid on presentation of the product and sales receipt. If the product is under warranty, it will be repaired or exchanged for free. This commercial warranty does not affect any statutory guarantees that are applicable in the country of purchase.
  7. Environmental measurements
Decathlon and Forclaz are committed to displaying information about the environmental impact of their backpacks, calculated over the product's entire life cycle. This work is the result of an experiment that began in July 2011, initiated by the French Ministry of Ecology. Scores ranging from A to E have been awarded, based on a comparison between Quechua backpacks only. Details on this project and the calculation methods used are available at
  8. Backpack technical tests.
Backpack components are approved in laboratory tests, including:fabric, buckles, webbing, foam, zips, etc. Fabrics are tested for: resistance to wear, tearing, colour-fastness under UV rays, washing, waterproofing, etc. A final test on the finished product simulates the kind of treatment to which it will be subjected over several years, to assess the strength of the assembly:The backpack is weighted, then placed on a dummy which reproduces the movement of fast walking through thousands of cycles.
  9. The Easyfit system
This patented system allows you to adjust your bag while on, with just a single movement, so that it fits your body shape: for maximum comfort.
