Product feature
  1. Crosscontact sole
The design of the sole has been the subject of extended research in our laboratories along with a special rubber formulation to optimise grip and traction. As requirements are not the same, we automatically look for the best compromise to develop on both soft and dry terrain.
  2. Waterproofing test
The footwear equipped with the NOVADRY® technology is tested in the lab and in the field to guarantee the best possible waterproofing and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
  3. 3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4,000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8,000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.Forclaz 500 high hiking boots for children are waterproof for 4,000 flexes.
  4. Prolonging waterproofness
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. Using waterproof gaiters or mini gaiters, it is therefore recommended to keep your feet dry for longer periods by protecting the top part of your shoes and prevent water from getting in as well as pebbles, sand, etc. Use of a re-waterproofing spray is recommended several times per year. This will help your shoes recover their original water-repellent qualities and combat outer stains.
  5. Buying tips
Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to allow then to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
  6. What shoe size do I choose?
For hiking, do try a size about your usual one to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from touching the top of the shoe. Recommendation: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tightened to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.
  7. Field Test
All our shoes are tested for comfort and use, by testers who are representative of the people the products are designed for, under identical conditions. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.
  8. LaboratoryTesting
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: tearing eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.

Purchased for my daughter. Daughter loves them, she says they are light and comfortable. She has no restriction in movement and can run as fast as when she wears trainers. They kept her feet dry in the rain and warm in the cold - my daughter and I are happy customers.
