Product feature
  1. Laboratory test
Components are approved in laboratory tests, including: fabric, buckles, straps, foam and zips. For example, for fabric: resistance to wear, tearing, colour-fastness in UV light, washing, waterproofing. A final test on the finished product simulates the kind of treatment to which it will be subjected over several years, to assess the strength of the assembly: the backpack is weighted then placed on a dummy which then reproduces the movement of fast walking over thousands of cycles.
  2. 10-year warranty, technical partnership
The warranty covers all backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. The special 10-year warranty is only valid with the product and till receipt. If the product is covered by the warranty, it will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. This sales warranty does not affect any statutory guarantees applicable in the country of purchase.
  3. How is backpack volume measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in litres.
  4. Environmental measures
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE mark is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing similar products to each other (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc). Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental data of its products. For more info: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
  5. How to adjust your backpack?
1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, hip belt, load tension straps). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - For backpacks with a capacity of 50 L or more, place the hip belt correctly (it should sit over the pelvis) and tighten it. For smaller backpacks, the belt should be placed around the waist. 4 -Tighten the shoulder straps. 5 – Adjust the load tension straps to suit. https://conseilsport.decathlon.fr/conseils/quoi-prendre-dans-son-sac-dos-de-randonnee-avec-un-pre-ado-tp_984
  6. How to pack a backpack?
Put your bedding at the bottom. Place heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece close to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. Put the water bladder in the compartment that is usually provided

  8. Environmental measurements
Oxylane and Quechua have decided to inform you of the environmental impact of its hiking backpacks over their entire lifespan. This work follows an experiment that began in July 2011 with the French Ministry of Ecology. Scores ranging from A to E were awarded based on comparisons between Quechua's backpacks only. Details on this project and the calculation methods used are available at http://www.oxylane.com/20/demarche-environnementale
