Product feature
  1. Footwear waterproofing test
The footwear is laboratory and field tested to ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while the air pressure inside the shoe is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
  2. 3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 16 hours of walking). Naturally, after the test or in use, the shoe recovers its original waterproofing when dry.
  3. Waterproof rating of the footwear.
The 900 Active Warm boots are waterproof up to 8,000 flexes.
  4. SNOWCONTACT technology.
SNOWCONTACT soles are made using a special component with a tread pattern that is optimised to provide excellent all-terrain grip and maximum traction all winter long. Also, the SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow
  5. Field tests
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products
  6. Measuring the thermal insulation of our footwear.
Previously, there was no way of accurately identifying the temperature threshold at which your boots would protect you from the cold. This is now possible: the temperature limits for use are shown on your Quechua shoes. We conduct cold-resistance tests in the field and in a laboratory with a panel of customers to measure the thermal resistance of our shoes when the user is active and inactive. We take into account the fact that men and women feel the cold differently.
  7. Lab tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: tearing of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
