Product feature
  1. Waterproofing of the garment
This garment passed a 60L/sqm/h shower test lasting 1 hour. This test replicates average rain shower conditions. This jacket's fabric is water repellent: It has the capability to make water run off the garment’s surface without absorbing it. As a result, the fabric does not soak up the water and remains lightweight and breathable. The water repellent feature is obtained by a treatment applied on the fabric's outer surface. Moreover, the main seams that are most exposed to the rain are sealed.
  2. How to maintain the waterproofing of your jacket over the long term
The fabric's water repellent properties must be reactivated in order to preserve its long-lasting effective waterproofing: we recommend that this is done after every 3 washes, or after wearing a dozen times in the rain. If washing, it is imperative that the garment is thoroughly rinsed, after which the water repellent properties can be easily reactivated by warming: in a tumble dryer or with a hairdryer for a relatively short period. You will find all our care guidelines in this product sheet.
  3. Waterproof rating expressed in mm or Schmerber
The resistance of a fabric is measured using water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on ISO 811). The higher the water pressure, the more the fabric is waterproof. A component with a 2000 mm waterproof rating can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by a 2000 mm column of water
  4. Breathability component
To find out if a fabric is breathable, its RET evaporative resistance (test based on ISO 11092) is measured. The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape, and therefore the higher the fabric's breathability. RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric 9 < RET <12 = very breathable fabric 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric RET> 20 = little or no breathability.
  5. How to choose your waterproof jacket based on your activity and sport
During a sporting activity, a person perspires more or less, depending on the intensity or the length of the activity. If the fabric's breathability is not adapted to your type of activity, sweat can condense inside the jacket. You feel wet inside: it is not the rain that seeps in, but the sweat that condenses. You must therefore choose your rain jacket based on your type of activity. This jacket is designed for a 2-hour hike at a pace of 5km/h max.
  6. Our environmental impact

  10. Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.
  11. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated based on its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is applied to help you readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit:
