  7. Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or liquid water-repellent treatment for the washing machine. To restore the water repellent properties of the fabric and optimise the performance of the garment throughout its lifetime. We recommend using these products with each wash.
  8. How is the temperature rating measured
Thermally neutral ambient temperature: the user feels neither hot nor cold. Temperature rating in accordance with the ISO 11079 standard, under the following conditions: Walking at 5 km/h with no wind and sunshine. Jacket worn together with: upper body: long-sleeved T-shirt + shirt + sleeveless down gilet / lower body: tights + fleece base layer + trousers / head: fur hat + hood / hands: under-gloves + gloves / feet: ski socks + après-ski boots.
  9. Component waterproofing
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hour).
  10. Waterproofing of the garment
Technologies: this garment has been shower-tested using 60 L/sqm/hr of water for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
  11. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
  12. Water repellent property of the component
A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be restored throughout the garment's lifetime (after every wash). We sell products for this purpose in our stores. All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
  13. A score to compare the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall rating from A to E is given to help you identify the more eco-friendly products by comparing product of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products.
