Product feature
  1. Measurement of the thermal insulation of our boots:
Based on the field and lab tests carried out to measure the perception of cold with a panel of users, we gauge the thermal insulation of our boots when stationary (static) and when moving (dynamic). It is now possible to know precisely up to what temperature your shoes protect you. The comfort temperature ratings are indicated for the boots. We take into account the differences in the perception of cold between men and women.
  2. Boot impermeability test:
These boots, which have been tested in the laboratory, provide the best possible waterproofing. The boots are initially immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check for bubbles on the surface of the boot. Then they are placed on a mechanical arm simulating walking, half immersed in water. We then check if the inside of the boot remains perfectly dry. These laboratory tests are supplemented with wear and ageing tests conducted in the field.
  3. 3 levels of waterproofing:
During the waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, with 2000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 4 km walk), 4000 flexes (approx. equivalent to an 8 km walk) and 8000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 16 km walk).
  4. Level of impermeability of the boot:
This model of boot has been tested up to 4000 flexes, equivalent to 8 km of walking.
  5. Field tests:
This boot has been tested in the field in climatic conditions adapted to its use by hikers accompanied by the product manager. In particular, we analyse the technical elements of the boot to validate the product in relation to its specifications and the feedback that you send us.
  6. Lab tests:
Our engineers conduct laboratory tests to fully guarantee your satisfaction in use. Among other things, we validate the following elements: strength of eyelets and straps, strength of glued assemblies, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the sole and upper components and accelerated ageing.
  7. Lab tests.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and straps, fixtures, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion and premature ageing.
  8. Field tests.
All our boots are tested in use and for comfort by users who are representative of the target market under conditions that replicate those you will experience in use. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.
  9. Measuring our boots' thermal insulation.
Previously, there was no accurate way of measuring the minimum temperature at which your boots protect you. Now it can be done: the temperature limits for use are shown on your Quechua boots. Using subjective sensory chill tests conducted in the field and in the lab with a panel of customers, we measure the thermal resistance of our boots when the user is moving and stationary. We take into account the differences in sensing cold between men and women.
  10. Lab tests.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, accelerated ageing.
