Product feature
  1. Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: tested in the lab and in use, these shoes, equipped with a waterproof and breathable membrane will ensure optimal protection against the rain. First, the shoe is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, they are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
  2. 3 levels of waterproofing
In the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approx. 4 km walk), 4000 flexions (approx. 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approx. 16 km walk). Of course, after this test, and during use, the shoe regains its original water resistance once dry.
  3. Waterproofing level
The TREK 100 shoe has been tested and validated for 8000 flexions, equivalent to a 16 km walk, in water reaching the middle of the upper.
  4. Laboratory tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - secure attachment of eyelets and hooks - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated ageing.
  5. Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with socks worn for hiking. Try several models and sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the heel seating and the front of the foot on a downward slope. Avoid any pressure points when fitting. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
  6. Care instructions
Use a brush to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. This is not problematic in itself, but it would change the shoe's aesthetic look.

With fairly wide feet its always a worry buying new boots and shoes. These fit well for length and width and have proved comfortable walking in the Peak district

Waterproof. Comfortable while pottering around on a slow dog walk. However as soon as I upped the pace and distance they started to slip badly at the heel, making sore patches. Tried tightening as much as possible, also tried different socks and then an extra pair of socks (which then made the shoes too narrow across the forefoot). Nothing worked so reluctantly had to return them. If they fit you well then you won't need to buy any other, more expensive, brands.
