Product feature
  1. Footwear waterproofing test.
These boots equipped with a waterproof membrane have been lab and field tested to validate the waterproofing and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Then, they are fitted to a mechanical arm to simulate walking and half-immersed in water to check that the inside of the shoe stays completely dry.
  2. 3 levels of waterproofing.
In our waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approximately 4 km walk) 4000 flexions (approximately 8 km walk) 8000 flexions (approximately 16 km walk). Naturally, when the product has dried after this test or in use, it regains its original waterproofing.
  3. Shoe waterproofing level.
The waterproofing of the TREK 100 boot is validated using a test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. a 16km walk, in water up to the middle of the upper.
  4. Lab tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - attachment of hooks and eyelets - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - sole and upper component abrasion - accelerated ageing.
  5. Buying advice
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several styles or sizes if necessary. Check the following two comfort points: the fit of the heel (the heel should not rise, or very little) and the front of the foot when walking downhill (the toes should not touch the front). You should feel no pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots over the course of a few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
  6. Care instructions
Use a brush to clean the shoe and remove any dirt or mud. Always brush in the same direction to restore the original appearance of the nubuck. Do not use shoe cream or waterproof grease on split leather. Although it will not damage the leather, it will change the appearance of your boots.
