Product feature
  1. What is the filling that makes my jacket warm?
Recognised for their excellent thermal insulation, down and feathers also offer an excellent ratio of warmth to weight and compression. The warmth comes from the combination of the weight of the down/feathers and the fill power of the jacket. This traps air that provides insulation from the cold. (75% down and 25% feather filling in the body, 200 g/sqm recycled wadding at the shoulders).
  2. What other components keep you warm, in addition to the filling?
In addition to your jacket's lining, the cuffs, snow skirt, waterproof zips, high collar and hood adjustments keep the warm air inside and prevent cold air from getting inside.
  3. What is a membrane and what's it for?
The membrane is a very fine component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away the perspiration produced by the body. The membrane is an essential feature when it comes to staying warm and dry.
  4. How is the waterproof rating of the jacket measured?
The resistance of a fabric to water pressure is expressed in terms of the height in mm of a water column that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more the fabric is waterproof. A component with a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by a 10,000 mm column of water.
  5. What are the elements of the jacket that protect me from the weather?
The 900 jacket was developed with a sophisticated component and assembly that prevent water from entering and reduce wind chill to help you cope with the weather conditions (rain, snow, wind, etc.) .To check that it is waterproof, this jacket was placed in a special shower reproducing the conditions a skier has to cope with. We validated the waterproofing of this product in the field in various weather conditions for several days.
  6. What is the water repellent feature of my jacket for?
The water repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This jacket has water repellent components that prolong its resistance to inclement weather. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.
  7. How to reactivate the water repellent feature of your jacket?
Bear in mind that the water repellent feature can be reactivated. To do this, you can use a waterproof spray (sold in our stores): spray the product evenly over the entire garment, then leave it to dry for 10 to 12 hours).
  8. What is a "breathable" jacket?
It is a product that allows the water vapour generated by your body to escape during physical effort. To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its total evaporative resistance RET (test based on the ISO 11092 standard. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 900 jacket has an RET of 12. However, it is Wedze's high-tech solutions (zips, vents, mesh) that reduce condensation inside the garment and maximise breathability.
  9. What is the fit of the 900 jacket?
Regular fit. The sides of the jacket hang down straight and remain parallel without conforming to the shape of your bust. This jacket has the space inside for wearing with a first and second high-tech layer.
  10. How to dress in order to stay warm on the slopes?
In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule: layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. Layer 2 or insulating layer, to retain the heat. Layer 3 or protective layer, to protect from the weather conditions. Given that the 900 Warm jacket is very warm, we only recommend wearing a layer 2 in extreme cold conditions.
  11. How can I prevent snow from getting in when I fall?
The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press studs at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. The snow skirt, as well as the adjustable cuffs, therefore prevent snow and air from getting inside during practice and especially in case of a fall.
  12. How to wash my jacket?
    * Wash the jacket inside-out * Machine wash at 30°C, Delicate programme with little detergent and without fabric softener. * Put 2 clean, ideally white, tennis balls in the drum of the washing machine. * Perform a second or third rinse cycle to make sure that any washing product that remains from the previous wash has been eliminated.
  13. How to dry my jacket?
Dry in a tumble dryer (strongly recommended) * Use a gentle or delicate programme. * Warning: make sure you select a gentle spin cycle. * Dry on several long cycles to dry completely. * Between 2 cycles, shake the down to break up the clumps of feathers which form during washing. If you do not have a tumble dryer, the process is longer. (drying can take 1 to 2 weeks on a dry and flat place). Pat the jacket (at least 4/5 times) to prevent the feathers from forming clumps
  14. Where do the feathers come from?
Thanks to our traceability system, we can guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to using responsible materials. Our suppliers are committed to using only feathers that come from ducks that are bred for their a meat and which are plucked after slaughtering. http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/faq/
