  5. Waterproofing of the component
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the higher the waterproof rating of the fabric. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hour).
  6. Water resistance of the jacket
This garment has been subjected to a shower test involving 60 L/sqm/hour of water for 2 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a rain shower in winter.
  7. Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or wash-in waterproofing product. To restore the water repellent feature of the fabric and optimise the performance of your garment throughout its lifetime, we recommend the use of such products at least during each wash.
  8. A score for comparing the products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. A score ranging from A to E is provided so that you can easily identify the more eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. For more info:
  9. Component water repellent property
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up moisture, keeping it lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every wash). Water repellent treatment products are available in our stores. All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
  10. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
  11. Waterproofing of the garment
Technologies: This garment has been shower-tested using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
  12. A score for comparing the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you identify products with the best environmental performance more easily by comparison with the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental impact.
