TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

3D HOOD AND FACE PROTECTION

This Wedze ski jacket has an integrated 3D hood that tightens automatically. It moves with your head without obstructing it, in order to provide better protection in bad weather. It is compatible with helmets.

The hood is preformed with a high collar for protecting the face in case of intense cold or strong wind. The flap of the zip closure is micro-perforated to facilitate breathing while protecting the face.

AIRTIGHT

AT THE CUFFS:

Wide, adjustable sleeves designed to fit over gloves. Elastane cuffs providing a perfect seal between the gloves and the jacket.

AT THE WAIST:

The snow skirt closes with press studs at the jacket hem. It prevents snow and draughts from entering when practicing wintersports, especially in the event of a fall. It is ideally combined with the BIB PROTECT salopettes to provide great protection for young freeriders.

Integrated removable liner jacket

70g/sqm recycled wadding on the back and chest for good insulation. Ergonomic cut. Panel that provides warmth and freedom of movement at the arms. Two breathable panels at the side provide good ventilation. The wadded collar and hood provide excellent comfort at the neck. Added benefit: 2 side pockets!

Water repellency

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to allow water to run off its surface without seeping in. Our FREERIDE jackets are equipped with water repellent components that prolong their resistance to the weather. This is an additional technical solution for staying dry for as long as possible! You should repeat this treatment regularly using the products sold in our stores to maintain these properties.

Component waterproofing

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. For example, a fabric with a waterproof rating of 10000 mm is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by a 10000 mm column of water

Breathability of a component

To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its total evaporative resistance RET (test based on the ISO 11092 standard). This is the capacity of the ski jacket to allow the water vapour produced by the body to escape during physical activity so that you stay dry. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. For example:

RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric

/ 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric /

12 < RET

< 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = little or no breathability

How do we make a garment waterproof?

The waterproofing of the garment is related to its fabric, seam sealing, and assembly design.

Using a waterproof ZIP or adding a flap to the zip (covers the zips with a waterproof fabric flap).

How do we make a garment breathable?

In addition to the breathability of the fabrics used, we employ technical solutions (zips, vents, mesh) improving the overall ventilation of our jackets and trousers designed for Freeride skiing. These ventilation systems regulate the temperature inside the garment while also helping to eliminate the perspiration generated by the body during physical activity.

What is the difference between a membrane and a coating?

This FREERIDE jacket has a membrane: it’s a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than a coating, which is similar to having a layer of paint applied to the inside the fabric. It makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane and requires a lining for protection.

Your product is repairable

This product is repairable. We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. Whatever it is, fixings, seams, zips, etc. This service is offered in your usual store.

If, however, we can’t repair your product (non-repairable production defect), you can exchange it or get a refund.

What is the RECCO® system?

With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Someone who is buried in the snow can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker and reflectors. RECCO reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time. All our Freeride jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO system.

TESTS AND WARRANTY

Test product

Our team of designers is based at the foot of the Mont-Blanc, near many ski resorts in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, we create and develop products that are simple and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field, because we believe that the only way to continuously improve our products is to test them under the real-life conditions that you will experience in use.
