  • A Great Down Bag

My primary criteria for purchasing this bag was that I wanted a centre located access zip on whatever I finally purchased. There is nothing worse than struggling with your arm across the body trying to do up or open a side zip bag.

My secondary criteria was that the bag had to be down-filled so as to pack down small and be lightweight. Lastly, the bag had to have a competitive price point against the other contenders on the market.

This bag met all those criterion exactly. I am a large man at 6ft 2in and 17 stone and I hate feeling claustrophobic when in the clasp of a sleeping bag that is too small for me. This is overcome in this XL bag from Simond, a celebrated French producer of items for the climbing fraternity. This bag easily allows me to roll over in my sleep, it is wonderfully warm as it is rated to -4C with a comfort rating of -11C and is very light compared to my synthetic bag with similar temperature ratings. Moreover, the central zip allows me to pop my arms and shoulders out of the bag if I get too hot.

At £99 there were absolutely no challengers on the market to beat the price point of this bag for the specifications it provides. I know I bought this bag in a sale but I am so glad that I did stumble upon it whilst product surfing. It is an absolute bargain and a joy to use. I am surprised not more people purchase down products from Simond. They are great value for money.
