TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Can I be sure that my jacket is warm enough for my winter hikes?

We developed your jacket for intense wintry conditions: extreme cold, snow, wind. Insulation is provided by thick wadding made of a synthetic component that insulates thanks to the air trapped in its fibres.

We added a long inner flap underneath the zip to stop cold air from entering. The tightening at the bottom of the jacket is the finishing touch to ensure your parka is comfortable.

How does my jacket protect me from outdoor conditions?

Your jacket is designed with a waterproof outer component that keeps out water and wind. To keep you warm in winter you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The hood with removable synthetic fur, the wrist cuffs and stand-up collar all keep out the cold. The high handwarmer pockets with fleece lining are perfect for protecting your hands in a comfortable position.

WATERPROOFNESS OF THIS JACKET

The waterproofness of a jacket isn’t limited to just its components: the assembly technique of the different parts is also an evaluation criterion.

Whether heat-sealed or sewn then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities.

As such, this waterproof jacket protects you from a downpour, i.e. 12 cm of rain in 2 hours.

COMPONENT WATERPROOFING OF THIS JACKET

The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric.

This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 15 000 mm H²0 (Schmerber) before washing.

A practical jacket with smart details

Practical and smart details: 2 handwarmer pockets, 1 secure outer pocket under the flap, 1 secure inner pocket, 1 mesh inner pocket to keep your belongings close at hand.

The main zip has a long zip pull and magnets to make fastening the flap easier.

It has two zips on the hem to ventilate your jacket when worn. Also very practical to crouch or sit down comfortably.

A comfortable, lightweight and flowing extreme cold jacket.

We designed this jacket with a comfortable fit so that it could be worn with a warm second layer such as fleece or light down jacket.

Its longline parka style is ideal for protecting you from the cold and wind during your winter hikes in large hilly areas or in the mountains.

It is a lightweight and flowing product that is easygoing and comfortable in every situation.

Will my jacket withstand regular use over the long-term?

To ensure the durability of our products, we perform tests on the selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colour fastness, resistance to repeated washing. All these tests have been carried out on the component on your jacket.

How to preserve the technical qualities of my jacket?

A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.

How to dress properly for snow hiking?

To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend using the 3-layer principle:

layer 1: The high-tech base layer transfers moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry.

layer 2: The second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and transfers moisture outwards.

layer 3: The jacket protects you from the outdoor conditions: rain, snow, wind.

The whole outfit must be breathable in order to eliminate moisture.
