What's the right size Park & Ride for me?
For Freestyle use, you can go for a relatively short board: choose a 20 or 25 cm drop (for example, a person who is 1.74m tall should choose a board between 154 and 149 cm in length). A smaller board makes rotations and tricks easier. A bigger board will be more stable at high speed and when landing jumps. The Park & Ride should be quite short. The 158 Wide size is well-suited to well-built users. 152cm=>1.67-1.77m 153cm MID WIDE=>1.68m-1.78m 156cm: 1m71-1m81 158 cm WIDE => from 1m78 to 1m90
A word from the product manager
If you had to choose just one...
Programme/terrain
The Park & Ride is true to its name, it's as good in parks as on- and off-piste. In snow parks, it is particularly suitable for jumps (tables) and inspires confidence on landing. Its standard camber gives it pop for jumps and stability at full speed. The rocker makes for good handling, as well as buoyancy in powdery snow. Its Powder Stance makes it enjoyable in the powder snow in the same way as if you were using a freeride board.
Twintip directional snowboard
The shape of the snowboard is Twin Tip: The board's sidecuts are completely symmetrical between front and rear, providing perfect symmetry and centring of the board's features for riding in both directions in the same way. For even greater versatility, we have shifted the inserts by 20 mm, making the Park&Ride a "false" twintip, just directional enough to ride in the park without issues.
Standard camber + rocker
All the advantages of both the standard camber (thanks to the board's elasticity, a standard camber serves as a spring to provide grip on all types of snow, edge-to-edge dynamism and recoil when coming out of turns) and the rocker (under constraint, the board's points of contact with the snow come closer together, making the board more manageable). The rocker elongates and raises the nose so that it can glide better over powder.
Medium and versatile flex (6/10)
Flex is the stiffness of the board between the front and rear. The flex of the Park&Ride is about 6/10, which is medium and versatile. It is reliable in carved turns while also being forgiving of edge mistakes.
Medium and versatile torsion (6/10)
The torsion, i.e. the torsional stiffness of the board between the feet, is about 6/10 on the Park & Ride, which is fairly stiff for good hold in the curves, recovery coming out of a turn and responsive edge transition. It is also flexible enough for some freestyle riding. It's the medium torsional stiffness that gives the Park & Ride good all-round handling without making it a jib board.
20 mm setback
The setback is when the board's compression points with the snow are not symmetrical in relation to the centre of the board, but set back towards the rear. The bindings are also set back towards the rear by the same distance. 20 mm setback = slight setback, a versatile, near-centred board, not only for riding in both directions, but also for better balance during rotations in the air and on slopes.
Recommended bindings
With the SNB 500 binding, the board + binding combination will be very homogeneous in terms of level and the design is coherent.
When should you wax your snowboard?
Wedze boards are supplied already waxed. They then require regular maintenance like all snowboards and skis: ideally waxing every 5 outings and at least once a year: - either at the beginning of the season to start with a very good glide - or at the end of the season so that the wax protects the base all summer long
Glide quality: sintered sole
The bases are made from polyethylene using 2 different technical processes: - extruded base, with a certain density of polyethylene - a sintered base, with a higher density of polyethylene (fewer holes, more PE) A sintered base is the Rolls-Royce of bases. The glide is really fantastic.
What is the Wide version snowboard?
A "Wide" board is a board that is wider than normal, to prevent "large" feet from touching the snow when turning and making you fall, or to increase buoyancy on powder. The width of the board is measured at its centre. At Decathlon, we have defined them as follows: - up to 245 mm: narrow board / foot size 4 to 7 - from 246 mm to 255 mm: normal/shoe size 5 to 8 - 256 mm to 265 mm: Mid Wide / foot size 7 to 10 - from 266 mm: Wide/shoe size 8.5 to 13
Can the shop mount the bindings on my board for me?
Yes. On the product page, you'll find a set-up support video, however you can also ask your store to fit your bindings to suit your own preferences. Remember to take your snowboard boots with you for 2 adjustments: 1. The front/back of the binding, so that the toes or heels of the boots don't stick out on one side more than the other 2. The strap on your binding should be properly adjusted to your boots
