Optimum Nutrition 's 100% Casein Gold protein (924g) is the most beneficial of the slow-release, continuous-release proteins.Whey protein is generally used just before and just after exercise, while 100% Casein Gold protein is used throughout the day.A slowly assimilated protein will be very important for the athlete insofar as it can provide anabolic coverage over the whole night. The reason for this more or less rapid assimilation is the choice of protein. Egg (albumin) or milk (casein) proteins are therefore much more biologically interesting at certain times of the day, such as bedtime. Casein protein has a very high biological value, and it takes the body between 6 and 8 hours to fully assimilate it. Throughout this assimilation phase, it supplies your body with amino acids. This permanent and sustained release of amino acids gives casein its anti-catabolic properties. The intake of 100% Casein Gold contributes to good post-exercise recovery and the rebuilding of muscle fibres. It also slows the deterioration of muscle fibers due to fatigue or over-intensive training. It thus protects against muscle wasting. This product contains 10g of essential amino acids, zinc and magnesium. Zinc contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system, while magnesium helps protein synthesis. As a slow-release protein, it's ideal to take in the evening at bedtime to limit muscle catabolism during the night, or at any other time of day when delayed protein absorption is desired. The anabolic effects of Whey (whose use is different) combined with casein will be enhanced. This new 924 g format is available in several flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, and Cookies &, Cream.
