The Petzl 8 is made from high-strength forged aluminium, offering an excellent balance between robustness and lightness. Its metallic finish ensures good wear resistance while remaining easy to handle during belaying or descending maneuvers.
Its angular (square) shape has been designed to reduce rope twisting and prevent the formation of a bowline knot, enhancing safety and ease of use during descents and belaying maneuvers.
Suitable for a wide range of ropes, the 8 is used on ropes of 8 to 13 mm in diameter, making it versatile for sport climbing, rappelling, and interventions where different rope thicknesses are employed.
The small secondary eyelet can be used for descending on thin ropes or serve as a backup braking plate, providing a practical option in improvised situations.
With a weight of approximately 100 g, the Petzl 8 descender is compact and lightweight, easy to integrate into a climbing kit or safety tether without adding bulk.
