How to choose your Swiss Ball
- Size S: opt for this size if you are up to 1.65 m tall. - Size M: between 1.65 and 1.85m tall. - Size L: over 1.85m tall.(recommended size for an office chair)
How do you inflate it to the right size?
When you pump up your ball for the first time, don't be afraid to over-inflate it. Sit on it and adjust the inflation level (by slightly deflating it, if needed) to adjust the ball to your height. Your knees should be at the same height as your hips, or slightly lower. If using it as an office chair, be sure your knees are 10cm under your desk. You can inflate your ball using a Swiss Ball pump (sold separately).
Recommendations for use
The ball can deflate slightly after several uses. This is due to the manufacturing process. If you encounter this problem, we recommend wetting the cap with soapy water. Once inserted, the cap will create suction and stop the air from escaping.
Why choose a Stable Swiss Ball?
We have made this Swiss Ball more accessible than a classic Swiss ball. It has a weighted base to prevent it from rolling away between exercises so you can maintain full concentration during your workout. It is also easier to store - pretty practical, don't you think?
Tip from the Team
We've swapped our office chairs for a Swiss Ball. The result: we've been working our abs and strengthening our backs each day, (almost) without realising it.
The story behind this ball...
2 years ago, Bruno, our Pilates accessories product manager, took physical therapy sessions for a herniated disc. His physical therapy included exercises with a Swiss Ball. The ball often rolled to the other end of the room between exercises, which gave him an idea. With advice from Dorian, his physical therapist, he developed this weighted Swiss Ball.
What is proprioception?
Proprioception is your ability to perceive where your body is in space, whether consciously or not. It uses numerous receptors that tell your brain what position your various body parts are in. It affects your balance and reflexes. By doing regular exercise, you will improve your proprioception, gain mobility and reduce the risk of injury.
Did you know?
The Swiss Ball was originally created in 1963 by an Italian manufacturer, and was later used by a physiotherapist named Suzanne Klein based in Switzerland, which it where it got its name. The Swiss ball was originally designed for medical use, especially for treating back conditions, orthopaedic conditions, and neurological disorders. Are you ready to get started?
