Product feature
  1. Design
The ROCKRIDER 520 was designed and created in France, at the B'Twin Village in Lille, by a team of experts and cycling enthusiasts dedicated to designing our mountain bike Sport Touring line. Production took place in different factories in Europe as close to our Decathlon stores as possible. More information available on our website:
  2. Frame
Rockrider CGF Evo (Comfort Geometry Frame) 6061 aluminium frame for 27.5" wheels. Comfortable seating position thanks to raised steering. Seat is 5 times more flexible than a standard frame thanks to a narrow 27.2 mm seat post. Low bottom bracket: helps keep the mountain bike stable in turns, and makes it easier to place foot on the ground. Open steering angle (69.5°): keeps mountain bike stable while riding. Short rear wheel base: bike is easy to turn.
  3. Front suspension
B'Twin U-Fit 80 fork, with 80 mm of travel and an innovative fork stiffness adjustment based on the rider's weight (55 to 105 kg). Durable thanks to the materials and fabrication processes used. Equipped with a mechanical spring and elastomer stoppers for maximum reliability and minimum maintenance.
  4. Rear suspension
    No rear suspension.
  5. Drive train
SRAM S200 triple-chainring chainset (22/32/42 teeth). SRAM X3 8-speed rear derailleur. Microshift MS22 front derailleur. SRAM X4 shifters with speed indicators. SRAM PG820 cassette, 8 cogs, 11 to 32 teeth.
  6. Brakes
TEKTRO aluminium brake levers: lightweight and precise. Front and rear Hayes MX5 mechanical disc brake callipers: powerful, progressive braking, even in rainy and muddy conditions.
  7. Handlebar / stem / steering / grips
B'Twin Sport Oversize aluminium handlebar; 660 mm (size S and M), and 680 mm (L and XL). Exclusive B'Twin aluminium stem, 70 mm (size S), 80 mm (sizes M/L), and 90 mm (size XL). Stem can be raised by up to 3 cm, with 5 settings (+ 0 mm, + 7.5 mm, + 15 mm, +22.5 mm, +30 mm). Semi-integrated A-headset headset—better sealed and integrated style. B'Twin Sport handles with grooves, 120 mm long: genuine comfort while riding.
  8. Wheels
Aero Trail Evo wheels with double-walled rims: lightweight, stiff, and durable. 27.5" diameter: the best balance of comfort and performance. Designed with 28 spokes to reduce weight while still guaranteeing rigidity and strength.
  9. Tyres
Exclusive B'Twin All Terrain Dry 27.5" x 2.0 tyres with a central tread specially designed for fast performance. Side lugs provide traction in turns. Also includes a chart showing recommended pressure levels depending on the rider's weight (see markings on tyre sidewalls).
  10. Saddle / seat post
Exclusive B'Twin Ergofit Evo saddle offers outstanding comfort thanks to its wider "hammock" shape and good distribution of pressure points regardless of the rider's pelvis width. B'Twin Sport seat post in aluminium for less weight. 27.2 mm diameter provides the seat with a natural flex that's 5 times greater than a classic seat post. 400 mm long, offering a broad adjustment range.
  11. Pedals
Bike comes with MTB platform pedals with bearings, made from hard resin for lower weight and greater safety (less aggressive in case of pedal that slips).
  12. Weight

  • Not a great start

    Robert (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
Ordered one of these mountain bikes for my sons birthday in 5 days time. Showing 2 in stock in the local store and paid for the purchase (£250) at the point of ordering.

I get a phone call this morning to say the item is not in stock and the nearest store with stock is a 70 mile round trip away. Refund to my card will take up to 5 days so in the meantime I have to pay AGAIN for a bike at a different store as well as incurring travelling costs to collect and around 2 1/2 hours of my time.

A very poor service so far from Decathlon. If the website is not up to date DON'T take peoples money up front!!

A very unhappy customer who would take money elsewhere if it were not for the fact that I would have a very disappointed son.

Very nice bike. A good first disc bike and upgradable in the future.
  • Suspension

    Harry (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
The suspension on this bike does not work. Do not buy this if you want some down hill mountain bike action. The forks do not budge and the chain comes of extremely easily. When I come off a high ledge and I was hoping my suspension would work but then they did not budge and I ended up fracturing my wrist. Really not happy with this bike I could get a bike for the same money which has good suspension and the chain does not come off.
    Response of the brand
I'm sorry to read that you injured your wrist. I hope you feel better now.
This bikes comes with 80mm of travel and is designed more as a cross country bike than for downhill use. The forks will absorb the vibrations on a trail and for moderate descents, any riding above this requires 100mm of travel at least (possibly more) and the frame needs a slacker geometry for that style of riding.
This bike's geometry is more suited to faster riding on flat, on the climbs and moderate descents. More of an allrounder you could say.
