Our designers, all sailors, used an eco-design process for this warm fleece for sailing in cool, damp weather, between 7°C and 10°C, in max. comfort.

An environmentally friendly fleece made from recycled polyester! Warm due to its high neck and also lightweight, it will insulate you from the cold on the water and on the coastline.

TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

The advantage of the fleece

The aim of the fleece component is to trap the air thanks to the volume created by its texture; this air keeps the body warm through its natural insulating potential. It is the brushed quality of the knitted fabric that allows air to be trapped. This fabric provides comfort and warmth.
This fabric has been laboratory tested for a comfort temperature ranging from 7°C to 10°C. The wind can make you feel colder, so don't hesitate to add a waterproof wind-proof jacket if needed.

The collar to keep you warm

The neckline reaches the top of the neck to conserve body heat. The neck has a close-fit to prevent the wind from rushing in.

What is recycled polyester?

By recycling plastic bottles or fabric to produce our polyester, we reduce the use of oil-derived resources while maintaining the performance qualities of the equipment during use.

As we are aware that we still need to put in a lot of effort to reduce our impact on the environment, we are determined to continue to strive for change.

Which size to choose?

The fit has been designed to be sufficiently loose-fitting to avoid impeding your movements and manoeuvres.
You can therefore wear the fleece in your usual size over a t-shirt or polo shirt or underneath your jacket.

What is a fabric’s breathability and the RET index that measures it?

The breathability of your fleece corresponds to its ability to let perspiration generated by the body escape. It is measured by its Resistance to Evaporative Transfer (ISO 11092 standard). The RET is a resistance index; the lower the value, the greater the breathability of the fabric. RET between 6 and 9: extremely breathable, between 10 and 13: very breathable, between 14 and 17: breathable, between 18 and 20: not very breathable, over 20: not breathable. 100 Fleece RET < 12

Our environmentally friendly approach with recycled polyester

By recycling plastic bottles to produce our polyester, we reduce the use of oil-derived resources while maintaining the performance qualities of the equipment during use.
As we understand the climate issue and the depletion of resources, the aim of DECATHLON teams is for 100% of our new products to be designed through an eco-design approach in order to reduce our impact on the environment.

What is the dope-dyed process?

Dyeing textiles requires large quantities of water as well as discharging wastewater from dyeing baths. To reduce this environmental impact, we opt for the dope-dyed technique, whereby the colour pigments are integrated into the yarn when it is produced.
This dyeing process has made it possible to reduce the environmental impact by half compared to the previous model, and enables us to save many litres of water.

A score to compare the environmental impact of products

The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle with different indicators. An overall score (ABCDE) is attributed to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with one another (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.).
Decathlon has voluntarily opted to apply this environmental labelling scheme.
