Product feature
  1. Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: these boots, which have been tested in the laboratory and the field, have a breathable, waterproof membrane for optimum protection in the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Then, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
  2. 3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 4 km of walking), 4000 flexes (about 8 km of walking) and 8000 flexes (about 16 km of walking). Naturally, when the boot has dried after the test or in use, it regains its original waterproof rating.
  3. Waterproofing level
The TREK 100 boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. 16 km of walking in water up to the middle of the upper.
  4. Lab tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - attachment of eyelets and webbing - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - sole and upper component abrasion - accelerated ageing.
  5. Buying tips
Try on both boots, while standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following two comfort points: the base of the heel and the forefoot when going downhill. You should not feel any pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots over the course of a few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
  6. Care instructions
Use a brush to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. This is not problematic in itself, but it would change the shoe's aesthetic look.

  • Comfortable boots from the start

With fairly wide feet its always a worry buying new boots and shoes. These fit well for length and width and have proved comfortable walking in the Peak district
  • Value for money

Waterproof. Comfortable while pottering around on a slow dog walk. However as soon as I upped the pace and distance they started to slip badly at the heel, making sore patches. Tried tightening as much as possible, also tried different socks and then an extra pair of socks (which then made the shoes too narrow across the forefoot). Nothing worked so reluctantly had to return them. If they fit you well then you won't need to buy any other, more expensive, brands.
