A modular hunting jacket with detachable zip-on sleeves
From a very early stage in the development process, we wanted it to be possible to quickly, easily and intuitively turn this jacket into a vest. This is because, during intense hunts in lowland or scrubland, you can get hot quickly (even in cooler weather). So we developed technical solutions to address these usage constraints: a zip to enable the sleeves to be removed emerged as the most appropriate solution.
So easy to confuse the right sleeve with the left sleeve once removed!
When out hunting behind your dogs with their noses to the ground tracking the scent of a pheasant or partridge, you can decide at any time to detach your sleeves (and place them in the two large front pockets closed with two press studs). But once you get back to your vehicle, you may be tempted to put those sleeves back on. To avoid mixing up the left and right sleeves, one of the two zips (left side) has a contrasting orange colour. Smart, right?
How did we come up with the idea of designing this jacket featuring an innovative ventilation system?
This jacket project came about with our hunting designers and engineers considering the possibility of a hybrid jacket (which could be turned into a vest at any time) within the range. All this while ensuring a technical and breathable product. For the first prototypes and tests, our teams began with an entirely mesh jacket to which reinforced parts were applied. Then, as the jacket developed, we moved towards laser cutting
Laser perforation was chosen to facilitate ventilation and improve perspiration wicking
A compromise was needed between an entirely mesh fabric (lightweight but susceptible to abrasion) and a breathable fabric. Through research, testing and design, we found the right component, and laser perforations performed by machine allowed us to make holes in it. These holes in the upper back and inside the two large front pockets (basically, in areas particularly exposed to sweat) make this jacket a highly effective garment in terms of breathability.
What does this mean in terms of resistance?
Breathability and ease of movement with a hunting clothing is great... but it's even better when it offers resistance against the biotope that you might encounter. That's why, after mapping the areas most exposed to vegetation, we reinforced the shoulders, arms and bottom of the jacket with polyamide. Its strong point? Its resistance! This is why it is often mixed with other textiles to increase the strength of the fabrics.
Eight pockets designed to store all your hunting accessories
With this jacket, technical solutions were required to make it easy for the hunter to use, while maintaining a sporty design. This is why it features eight pockets Two secure inner pockets with zip, two large chest pockets, two bottle-holder pockets on the back, two lower front pockets (closed with press studs) featuring a cartridge holder enabling 5 rounds to be carried (i.e. a total of 10 with both pockets). Everything you need to take your equipment with you
Freedom of movement: an important feature that we thought about for this model
For greater ease of use, the first thing our designers did was to add a second slider to the central zip fastener on the front. This allows you to open the jacket from the top or bottom while leaving one end open, as well as offering greater freedom of movement if you need to kneel down, for example.
The well-designed details of this versatile jacket
Our hunting jacket has a ring on the right-hand side that makes it easy to carry a bird carrier. The wrists are elasticated and can be adjusted using a hook-and-loop strap. On the top are two remote-control holders. At the rear, a large game bag, quickly accessed by means of three zips (two side zips and one horizontal zip for a complete opening), is a great place to hold the game you have taken. Note that its inner fabric component makes it easy to wash and clean.
