Instructions/Heating
1. Remove the warmer from the packet and knead it to activate the heating process with oxygen and humidity.
2. Wait for 10 minutes since the WARMER MUST BE FULLY WARM before being put in your boot.
3. Ideally, activate them in an ambient environment of 20°C (at home, in the car, etc.).
4. at 0°C or above 2,000 m altitude, blow on them several times. The warmth and moisture of your breath will accelerate the start of the reaction.
BEWARE OF BURN RISKS (1/2)
4 situations should be avoided:
1. NEVER STICK THE WARMER DIRECTLY TO THE SKIN
2. DO NOT KEEP THE FEET WARMERS IN THE CAR WITH THE HEATING ON THE FEET, OR EVEN AT HOME IN FRONT OF A CHIMNEY FIRE. The warmer provides extra warmth. The warmer it is, the more it warms... until possibly causing superficial burns.
BEWARE OF BURN RISKS (2/2)
3. INTENSIVE SPORTS ACTIVITY SHOULD BE COMPLETELY AVOIDED (such as cross-country skiing, figure skating, etc. as the perspiration will dampen the mix and it will overreact. WARNING: kids’ feet and hands sweat two or three times as much as adults for the same sports activity
.4. DO NOT STICK TO THE INSTEP as laces rest on this area and friction will accelerate the reaction. STICK THE WARMER TO THE TOE AREA ONLY.
HOW IT WORKS
A warmer is a mix of active charcoal powder and iron which produces heat by oxidizing the iron.
The reaction is stopping:
_When there is no more active charcoal. It stops completely after about 5 to 6 hours.
_In an airtight space (in a rubber boot or with neoprene cycling overshoes).
If you add air to the warmer, the reaction starts.
GOOD TO KNOW
The exothermic reaction begins on the production line:
_ The mix is activated then checked at 100%
_ Once inspected and validated, the pair of feet warmers is inserted in the plastic packet which stops the reaction and therefore the heat generation. It will start again when the pack is opened with oxygen and humidity.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WARMER STOPS HEATING AFTER 1 HOUR?
OR IF IT DOESN'T HEAT ENOUGH?
This means that the reaction is suppressed by lack of air. Just remove the warmer, give it air, knead it or blow on it to begin the heating process again. You can then put it back in your boot.
BORDERLINE CASES
The warmer is not working:
_ If there isn’t enough air around the warmer : in a neoprene overshoe or a rubber boot for example.
_ If conditions are extreme: in extreme cold, the warmer provides additional warmth to the operating temperature, but unfortunately it struggles to warm up if the temperature really is too low.
_ If the altitude exceeds 3,000 m, the lack of oxygen reduces the reaction.
Precautions
Never stick the warmer directly to the skin. Children, the elderly and disabled people should use this product with care and under supervision.
Seek the advice of a doctor before use in cases of diabetes, delicate or sensitive skin, blood circulation problems, paralysis or damaged nerves, rheumatoid arthritis, if you are pregnant or if you have any doubt.
External use only. Do not apply to frostbite or desensitised skin.
Do not use while sleeping.
Single-use product.
The exothermic reaction consumes the activated charcoal and oxidises the iron. Once the fuel is consumed, the reaction is complete and the powder becomes hard.
