Looking for a headset that won't affect your style? Introducing the major. It features 14 vents, the Compass Fit system and a Mips liner for optimal protection. Then it's been tested and earned a 5-star safety rating from the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab. Congratulations, you've found the perfect protection for your next ride around town. Multi-directional impact protection system. Designed to protect against the rotational violence to the brain caused by rotational impacts. Find your perfect fit with the compass adjustment system. Simply turn the dial to adjust to your custom setting, keeping your head snug and secure. Because of its light weight, this system will make the helmet feel like it was custom made for your comfort. MIPS While standards address the force experienced during direct impacts, the Mips component is tested to help reduce the internal rotational movement of your brain during an impact, the types of injuries that can lead to concussions. During an impact, the low-friction Mips layer allows the helmet to slide 10 to 15 millimeters in all directions, reducing some of the rotational movement to the brain compared to helmets without Mips. VT Helmet Rating The Bern Major has earned a 5-star safety rating from the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab, the highest possible rating in this test. Through a series of impact tests, the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab calculates a STAR (Summation of Tests for the Analysis of Risk) score, which adds up the exposure-weighted risks for common cyclist head impact scenarios and their corresponding concussion risks. Using 6 impact locations at 2 different speeds, the STAR equation evaluates 12 impact conditions representative of bicycle crashes.
