Camping Cutlery FAQs

What makes a good camping cutlery set?

A good set is light, tough and easy to pack, with pieces that stand up to regular use rather than bending in the bag. A clip, case or roll keeps everything together, while the right material balances durability and weight for your style of camping. Many of our camping cooking sets already include cutlery, so it's worth checking what's included before buying extra.

What is included in a camping cutlery set?

Usually a knife, fork and spoon per person, often with a teaspoon or a space-saving spork, held together in a case or roll. That covers everything from cooking and serving to eating at the table. Complete each place setting with our camping mugs for the tea, coffee and soup that bookend a camping day, and you've a tidy outdoor table for everyone.

What's the best way to keep camping cutlery clean on a trip

Store it in a dedicated case or roll so the pieces stay together and remain hygienic, rather than loose in a bag. Rinse and dry after each meal to head off staining, which is far easier with clean water to hand. A camping water bottle filled nearby makes washing up and a final rinse simple, even at a remote pitch with no tap nearby.

Why use dedicated camping cutlery for outdoor meals?

Camping cutlery is lighter, tougher and designed to pack down, so it won't rattle loose or bend in a rucksack the way household pieces can, and you're not risking your good kitchen set outdoors. It's built to be rinsed and reused at a basic pitch. It rounds out a cooking kit alongside our camping stoves and cartridges, so once the stove has done the cooking, you've the right tools to eat with.

What materials are camping cutlery made from?

Mainly stainless steel and reinforced plastic, with a titanium option for the truly weight-conscious. Stainless steel is durable, hygienic and handles hot food without issue, making it the everyday choice for car camping. Plastic and titanium save weight for trekking, where every gram counts on a long route. Whichever you pick, look for smooth edges, a comfortable handle and a finish that wipes clean easily after a meal.
