Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein Gold protein is the most beneficial of all delayed-release proteins. While whey protein is desirable just before and just after exercise, 100% Casein Gold protein is desirable for the rest of the day.A slowly assimilated protein will be very important for the athlete insofar as it can provide anabolic coverage over the whole night. The reason for this more or less rapid assimilation is the choice of protein. Egg (albumin) or milk (casein) proteins are therefore much more biologically interesting at certain times of the day, such as bedtime.Casein protein has a very high biological value, and it takes the body between 6 and 8 hours to fully assimilate it. Throughout this assimilation phase, it supplies the body with amino acids. It is this permanent and sustained release of amino acids that gives casein its anti-catabolic properties. It also slows the deterioration of muscle fibers due to fatigue or over-intensive training, and protects against muscle wasting. Indeed, if the body lacks protein intake, amino acid reserves in muscles are quickly depleted. This product contains 10g of essential amino acids. Casein protein, which diffuses its amino acids very slowly throughout the body, helpsprevent muscle catabolism during these long periods.This slow-digesting protein, which supports muscle growth and rebuilding, contains zinc and magnesium. Zinc contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system, while magnesium supports protein synthesis.As a slow-release protein, 100% Casein Gold is ideal:- in the evening, at bedtime, to limit muscle catabolism during the night- any other time of day when delayed protein absorption is desired.
