We are committed to consuming less water with this product (black colour)
Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce our environmental impact, we use a self-pigmentation process for our black jackets that involves adding the colour pigments when the yarn itself is produced.
Recycled polyester (Colours other than black)
By recycling plastic bottles to produce our polyester, we have reduced the utilisation of oil-based resources while preserving the quality and performance of the material during your activities. Our jackets, other than the black ones, contain 75% recycled polyester.
Water repellent without PFC
The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: it lets water slide over its surface without seeping in. In this way, the fabric doesn’t soak up water and stays light and breathable.
The water-repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior: it doesn’t use fluorinated compounds, which have a harmful impact on fauna and flora.
Waterproofing of the component of this jacket
The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or H20 mm (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating (JIS 1092 standard): this component resists 5,000 mm H20 (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5 metre column of water).
Durable performance of your jacket
To maintain a durable water-repellent fabric, we recommend reactivating it regularly.
Do this every three washes (it is important to rinse abundantly) or after a dozen uses in the rain.
You can easily reactivate the water repellent property by warming the fabric:
- in a tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program)
- with a hair dryer at a distance of 20 cm by going back and forth twice
- or two passes with an iron on the delicate setting without the steam function.
The fabric of this jacket is breathable: RET = 12.
Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET).
This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin.
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.
RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric
RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric
RET ≤ 20: little or no breathability
Choose your waterproof jacket according to your sports effort
This jacket is designed for hiking for 2 h at a maximum pace of 5 km/h with no elevation gain
During sports activity the extent to which we perspire depends on the intensity or the duration of the physical effortIf the breathability of the fabric is not adapted to your physical activity the perspiration vapour condenses inside the jacketYou will feel damp insideit is not rain coming through but perspiration vapour condensing Choose a waterproof jacket according to your level of physical activity

TESTS AND WARRANTY
Our Quechua global design centre is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute-Savoie.
This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and outdoor sports enthusiasts to test our products on natural terrain.
Our range of waterproof jackets and over trousers also undergoes a shower test in our climatic chamber at our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory near Lille.
This jacket was tested and approved in June 2020 by a group of testers during a 2-hour hike at the foot of the Arpenaz waterfall in Haute-Savoie.
In order to meet your requirements, Quechua products are tested in the wild in the conditions you encounter during your hikes.
Our teams, as well as a tester panel (made up of partners, ambassadors and customers) test products throughout their development until they go to market.
