How can I be sure that my jacket is strong and durable?
Our snowboard jackets are guaranteed for 5 years. We offer repairs locally if your jacket is damaged. Contact us on our website to find out more about how to get your product repaired.
We take particular care in choosing all the elements and assembly processes that make up our ski and snowboard jackets so they are as durable as possible.
Our actions towards more environmentally-friendly design
We know the impact our sport has on the environment and we are dedicated to reducing the impact of our products as much as possible in order to protect our playing field. This vest was developed with the following features:
- 90% recycled wadding
- Fluoride-free main material
- Lining with mass dyed yarn (Dope Dyed)
What is Dope Dyeing?
Dyeing textiles uses lots of water, chemical products and energy. However, we enjoy wearing colour. To reduce this impact, we use the “Dope Dyed” technique where powder colour pigments are added when the yarn is produced (and not by soaking it in dye baths as is usually the case). This reduces consumption and the discharge of waste water from colouring our fabrics.
What we're not doing so well when it comes to our environmental impact
Despite our efforts, it's not always easy to reduce our impact as much as we would like. For this product, we are striving to:
- Convert the main component into a recycled component
- Use Dope Dyeing for all components
- Find out how to make a product waterproof with a recycled PU coating
- Make the coating separable (or have the same chemical composition) to help recycle the product
Can I compare the products' environmental impact?
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and using various indicators. A score from A to E is given to help you easily identify the more eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type. Decathlon actively promotes this initiative:

Can I be sure my jacket will give me proper protection in bad weather?
To withstand bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.), the jacket has been developed with a component and assembly that keep the water out and reduce wind chill. The waterproof rating is measured by placing the product in a special shower that replicates the real-life conditions encountered by snowboarders during use. Finally, we have spent a few days snowboarding, in all conditions, to validate the waterproofing of the product.
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?
In addition to the waterproof fabric, we reinforce the waterproofing of the jacket with taped seams. These are heat-bonded waterproof strips placed on the seams inside the clothing to make it perfectly watertight. On this product, these waterproof seams are used in the areas the most exposed to the snow (hoods, shoulders).
What is the water repellent feature of my jacket for?
The water-repellent feature makes water run off the fabric without seeping in thanks to a treatment applied to its outer surface. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the life of the product, after 2 to 3 washes on average, using the products available in our stores. All the waterproof jackets that we design for snowboarders are water-repellent.
"Coated" jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
A breathable coating is a coating applied to a fabric in the form of a paste or liquid which creates a protective film. The breathable coating is a waterproof barrier that lets through water vapour produced by the body when snowboarding.
How will my jacket keep me warm?
To keep you warm, we use wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester which stores more or less air, depending on the length of the fibres. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech or silicone-coated, each with different properties (warmth, low weight, elasticity, etc.)
How should I dress to avoid getting cold in the mountains?
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule:
- Layer 1 or a second skin, to stay dry.
- Layer 2 or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in.
- Layer 3 or a protective layer to protect against the elements.
How to wash my jacket?
To optimise your jacket's performance and durability, we advise the following:
* Machine wash at 30°, synthetic programme.
* Turn the product inside out.
* Add a small amount of detergent. No softener.
* We recommend you wring it by hand.
* Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator.
You can restore the water resistance of the outer fabric using a fabric waterproofing spray. Read the care label.
Why is the waterproofing value online and the one in the jacket different?
We designed our jacket by choosing a technical coating that ensures waterproofness of 10,000 mm when you buy them. After each wash the coating becomes less efficient, which is why we also test the product to guarantee optimal waterproofing even after 5 washes. It’s this value after 5 washes that is printed inside the jacket so that the information remains true even in a few years when you sell your product.
