TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

How are the NH500 MID LEATHER WP hiking boots tested to guarantee comfort?

Our hiking boots are designed to be as comfortable as possible for the wearer. to this end, we have included different ingredients in this boot to take care of your feet such as the EVA foam midsole and insole (ethylene vinyl acetate), or the neck of the boot (top heel section) which includes a synthetic foam for greater comfort when worn.

We have also eliminated the seams in the heel area to avoid any discomfort.

How are the NH500 MID LEATHER WP hiking boots tested to guarantee strength and durability?

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: tearing eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.

These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear of our hiking shoes.

How do the soles of the NH500 MID LEATHER WP hiking boots grip onto footpaths?

The sole’s design is the result of long research carried out in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula which optimises grip and traction. We are always looking for the best solution to progress on loose or mineral (forest or coastal) walking trails.

When used on roads, this can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for high mountain walking.

Which pair of socks should you wear with the NH500 MID LEATHER hiking boots?

These shoes are slightly breathable but not enough to wick away all humidity created by your perspiration. We therefore advise you to choose hike 100 low or mid socks. they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit construction under the sock that wicks moisture away from your foot. They are also high enough to protect your ankle from the shoe. It is an excellent combination to reduce the chance of blisters.

How waterproof are these NH500 MID LEATHER WP boots?

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests to simulate walking with the boots half submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and ageing. During the laboratory waterproofing test, we test three levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (30-minute walk), 10,000 flexes (3-hour hike) and 30,000 flexes (6-hour hike). This model of boot has been tested for up to 30,000 flexes, which is equivalent to six hours of hiking.

TESTS AND WARRANTY

Test product

Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. It brings together 4 themes, each with their own area and technological tools: - Body shape (thanks to the 3D analysis); - Motion science; - Thermal comfort (with its four climate chambers); - Behavioural and sensory science. These hiking boots have therefore been tested to ensure they are waterproof and comfortable to walk in.
