The Igloo 27L Thermoelectric Cooler is a proper workhorse for caravanners and campers who need reliable cooling without the faff of traditional fridges. It runs on both 12V DC from your vehicle's cigarette lighter and 240V mains when you're hooked up at your pitch, so you've got cold drinks and fresh food sorted from the moment you leave home until you're settled at your destination. The 27-litre capacity handles three 1.5-litre bottles plus plenty of sandwiches, snacks and essentials for a weekend away. What sets this apart from passive cool boxes is the thermoelectric cooling technology, which actively cools contents up to 20°C below whatever temperature it is outside. On a typical summer day at 25°C, you're looking at interior temperatures around 5°C, keeping everything nicely chilled. The dual-fan system works away quietly whilst thick insulation holds the cold, and there's a handy Low impact mode on mains power that cuts energy consumption without sacrificing cooling performance.
At just 4.2kg and measuring 40 x 47 x 28cm, this cooler fits behind seats in your tow vehicle or tucks into caravan storage lockers without eating into your living space. The robust handle locks the lid securely closed, which stops spills during travel and maintains the internal temperature between stops. There's even a built-in cable storage compartment in the lid that keeps your power leads organised rather than trailing everywhere. It's worth knowing that thermoelectric coolers need continuous power to maintain cooling, so if you're running off a leisure battery without hook-up, you'll want to monitor your power levels. Pre-chilling your food and drinks before loading helps the cooler reach temperature faster, and adding a couple of ice packs improves efficiency brilliantly. For touring caravanners and campers who want dependable refrigeration without the complexity or expense of compressor systems, this Igloo cooler delivers exactly what you need.
