It all started with an idea. Our snowboard boot engineers approached K2 Snowboarding team rider Sage Kotsenburg with a new concept for snowboard boot construction — and it clicked, we were off. A brand-new construction results from a single-piece rubber lower shell with integrated mesh. In short, this means the Orton will not only be waterproof, but also warm and dry, all day long. The single-piece lower shell is combined with a dual-zone BOA® Fit System, making this boot a versatile model, suitable for feet of all shapes and sizes. During the development of this boot, Sage spent over 100 days with this product to make it 100% perfect. Furthermore, the Orton was tested by our staff, our athlete team, backcountry guides and our film crew. Thousands and thousands of hours were invested to set a new benchmark with the Orton. Sage knows that the devil is in the detail... and he is meticulous. For optimal performance during bootpacks, we chose our Vibram® V5 rubber outsole. For ultimate cushioning and vibration absorption, we opted for our Harshmellow™ injected midsole and the Harshmellow™ Pro insole. For an optimal fit, we chose our performance liner retention system and a thermoformable tri-density Intuition™ Pro Foam 3D Liner. To top it all off, an asymmetrical rip-stop lace cover with a gaiter hook prevents any snow from getting in.
