Tom Ritchey rode off-road and far—and designed products for such adventures—decades before anyone thought of calling it "gravel riding" or "bikepacking." His real-life experiences directly inform every product Ritchey makes—like the beloved VentureMax handlebar. With its short reach, shallow drop, and targeted flare, the original VentureMax provides comfort and confidence to legions of handlebar riders looking to settle in and have fun on those dirty drop bar adventures.
Bike adventures demand components that offer unsurpassed comfort, practical features, and logical design. Taking the idea of ??the original Comp VentureMax to the next level—or rather, the next width—the Comp VentureMax XL offers all the benefits of the original handlebar, but significantly wider. Particularly well-suited to the bikepacking community, the Comp VentureMax XL offers ergonomic end caps for a more comfortable hand position, and the wider grip ensures better control and greater stability off-road when fully loaded. Additionally, there's plenty of clearance on either side of the stem for mounting accessories and bags. Furthermore, the Comp VentureMax XL features a 4.6° rearward angle, an aerodynamic 38x22.5mm stem shape, and a Shimano EW-RS910 junction box mounting hole.
While the Comp VentureMax XL boasts a number of attributes, including multiple hand positions, it's the return of the shaped bend in the drop that adds yet another practical and comfortable design element for any surface you choose to ride on and for any length of adventure.
The generous width provides ample space for attaching accessories and bags.
The flattened 38 x 22.5 mm top section offers a comfortable hand rest.
The width is measured at the initial curve, not at the top of the cap.
